I just had a question for those people who played around with the ram air mod. It was a pretty hot post this winter and I tried to follow it as best I could. I missed what the final verdict was on it. The only thing I heard was it made a sound like a duck quacking when you grabbed a fist full. As cool as that is, anyone know what HP gains there were? Also were the SLP do-it-yourselfers getting the same results as the kit for sale on Ebay? Also anyone have any feedback on the add on wheel kit? I was thinking about these mods for over the summer. Are they something I should do? or should I just stay my #*$&@ off eBay?

I think there were no gains...or possibly a combination of other mods that gained the 1 or 2 mph. Revving 11000 rpm is the reason for the added mph, vs. 10600.
Stock sleds that day matched the 'ram air' sleds speeds.
'legend' on here, ran the same speeds, maybe 1/2 mph slower with a high windshield!

Sleds do not go fast enough for Ram Air to play a major role in making horse power...
sled
A 118mph is plenty fast enough for a ram air system to work.

Cold/Dense air is what everyone's looking for in the performance world.
BUT......you have to be able to control the AFR.
I have a EFI controller......and an Air Fuel Ratio guage.
My intake temps were 65*F to 114*F at 35-40mph on tight logging roads.
Now they are ambient air temperature all the time.

I made one for my SC using parts from Turbohoses R&D

The Fix Powersports air box lid is named wrong by calling it "Ram Air". It really doesn't have anything to do with Ram Air, it's simply leaning out the stock ECU fuel curve by supplying more air to the motor. That being said on 2 out of 3 sleds I have tested it on it did work and showed a gain.

great info!
Wow, there seems to be a lot of debating over this issue. I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one with some speculations.

Again, in back to back CONTROLLED testing on the lake, there was no worthwhile gain. Tried it on my sled and Dan's. He may have been faster than me, but I contribute that to him revving 11000 rpm vs my 10600.
I am pretty sure 'legend' was revving his high windshield Apex at 11000 rpm too and pulled a tenth or so less mph than Dan's...

In back to back testing at the track there was a gain in both ET & speed. Same lane, same air temp, same track temp, same density altitude in back to back runs. In fact if it would've had the same 60' time with the Fix lid on as it did stock it probably would've been closer to a tenth faster.
Run 4: Ulmer Racing Stage 2 Attak (same settings as Run 3)
Raced against a Z06 Corvette & whooped him by almost 2 seconds!!
RT: .044
60': 1.764
660: 7.253
MPH: 96.930
1/4: 11.400
MPH: 116.050
Run 5: Ulmer Racing Stage 2 Attak (same clutch & suspension settings as Run 3)
Fix Air Box Lid
RT: .060
60': 1.789
660: 7.263
MPH: 98.252
1/4: 11.352
MPH: 117.754
Nice gain with the leaned out Air/Fuel ratio!! 1.3 mph gain in the 1/8 mile and a .048 second and 1.7 mph gain in the 1/4 mile.

OEM ecu and 87 octane fuel. No timing or fuel changes. Box stock on all components except clutching and gearing. The grass drag ECU actually has the same A/F ratio as a OEM production unit from the testing I have done.
