Hey Guys,
Need a hand with this one. Our regular group of 8 that do a 1 week ride every year has run into a division of planning. Some of the guys are wanting to do the RAP (ride around algonquin park) and others are wanting to ride in Quebec. The proposed route in quebec starts is the loop around Tremblant.
Who has done it, which is a better ride?
Any feedback would be great
Thanks

I love Quebec. Never done the RAP. There has been a closure for a while in the Tremblant area. Le Ptit Train du Nord (regional 323 - the linear parc) is closed on either side of Mt Tremblant. We did ride this area a few years ago and stayed at the Comfort Inn St. Jovite. We had to taxi to the resort. There has been rumors of a compromise but nothing definitive ever seems to happen. Hopefully soon. The parts of that trail that we did ride were awesome but apparently noise became an issue due to the high speed of the trail and cans on some sleds.

I have never done either so I can't say, but going by what I have heard/read, I'd say Quebec in a heartbeat, but that is also based on how much time you have?dburrowes said:Hey Guys,

Have you checked out freedomsledder.com in the Ontario section, or ontariocondtions.com yet? You'll get a ton of info from both sites I'm sure.

Never done the full RAP, have ridden about half of Quebec. My last trip I did last year was the Gaspe peninsula. 13 hour drive from where you and I live (I'm in stouffville) but hands down the best trip Ive ever done. If you want some more details and places to stay, let me know and I'll give you some info. Tremblant is nice as well, as long as they get snow. I you're looking to do like a sled/ ski trip, Riding around the Mont St Anne area is amazing as well.

- Depends on conditions and what time of the year, and days of the week too.
- If you do RAP starting on a Friday, the trails will be beat to crap, and depending on conditions, RAP may not have good snow.
- Plus, you have to take into account how long everyone wants to drive. QC will take 2 days of driving off your week.
- You live 5 mins from me, and RAP is close.
- IMO, I'd go fro QC, but leave from somewhere closer.
- I've been eyeing up Maniwaki, and I got some good info at the TO sled show.
- 8 guys eh? I'd say a night out with some beers and a vote would decide it.

lol Thanks all - the 8 guys and a night out with beer is what has caused the debate.
I am partial to Quebec as well. With our cottage in dorset, my main concern is that the RAP trails will be very similar to the trails at the cottage. The last couple of years we have been all over northern ontario with the last trip being KL, Hearst, Dueberville, Folyet and back to KL to see Kim Mitchel in concert. Tough to beat that trip on the RAP tour. I'm hoping that Quebec will bring something new to the group.

- Knowing that...go Quebec!
- Step it up a bit and do Gaspie Pennisula.
- Then again, day trips from a cottage and trash talking for a few days with friends is good too.
- Something else too... a saddlebagger from Dorset south over to District 9 would be a good run! (Weather Permitting)

I would go the with the Quebec ride .You guys have ridden enough of Ontario and Quebec is the only place that is better. When I did the( February)Rap Dorset was the worst part of the trip.On an other ride we were in KL the same time( March) as you guys but didn't go to see Kim.Its the last ride of the season for us. I am trying to get a ride this season to Quebec but maybe ride from North Bay area.

In saying that, I hope Quebec doesn"t dissapoint, lol.

I've never done either...well I've done parts of the RAP...but from what my buddies have said...Quebec is hands down better....another destination to consider is New Brunswick...my buddy raves about it.

Rap tour can be a great trip. However, is a four day trip at best, probably done in three days if the conditions are good. As anywhere, it all depends on mother nature. Northern Ontario, or North Western Quebec has some of the best trails out there if you haven't ridden those areas before, and could be combined with the Rap.

I live at quebec I do not speak English
the most beautiful trails for snowmobile quebec are on the south shore quebec
from Lévis to gaspé
is also the mauricie shawinigan to la tuque and Lake st jean Sagnenay
quebec side is more mountain and more achalender weekend
normally by a lot of snow quebec and snowmobilers
it is a winter sport that many people practice
are many trails for snowmobiles normally very well maintained
are very beautiful places visited and see in winter by snowmobile
if you like to ride a snowmobile runs very large it is one of the most beautiful place in the world to go snowmobiling
it is for sure that the day of the week is a lot less people on the trails ideal for better conditions
I am very happy to make snowmobile at quebec
well hate to see the snow fall
