rear cooler

Had the temp light come on during my first ride on my "new to me" 06 Apex GT. Was riding about 35 MPH average. Light came on just after a quarter mile stretch of plowed road between trails. Went off when I got back onto the trails, and then came back on after a two block run of plowed road between the trails and my house. Wife's 06 Apex GT, with the rear cooler, never experienced this.

So a quick call to Kevin at Port and I am getting the rear cooler shipped out today. Better to have more cooling than not. Thanks Kevin!!

I ran a $2 red light to my fan so I know when my engine starts to heat up now, rather than waiting until the temp light comes on. Now I know when the fan is on and I know Im getting hot. Gives me a change to throw some snow on the running boards to cool it down if needed...

I like this idea, thanks Mr. Pitstop!

My 07 Attak overheated all the time. Low snow and wet snow conditions were the worst. Installed rear heat exchanger and water wetter. Never looked back. Good luck.

I used to run water wetter in my bikes but switched to engine ice. Water wetter is like water...IT WILL FREEZE". When mixed with antifreeze no problem. But, engine ice is good to I think -14 so I think you could add way more of this with your antifreeze? I haven't tried it yet.

Had my temp light come on for the first time since I bought my sled(07 apex) new, It was the first time it saw some "low snow" conditions last march, checked everything that could possibly cause it but found nothing so I put the bigger rear exchanger on for the 121" and hope this helps .

Just a heads up to those wanting or going to install the rear cooler. You will have to cut out some of the sheetmetal in front of the hose ends of the original cooler in order to get it out of the sled. Didn't know this and didn't see this in any posts. Have a dremel with cutoff wheels handy. Removing metal with pliers is not fun. And you will need a rivet tool.

Otherwise install was straight forward. Now just bleeding out the system. Ready to ride!!!
