Has anyone ever thought of putting a coilover shock in place of the gas only shock and pitching the torsion springs?

It seems like it would work and it seems to be what the aftermarket skid makers are doing.

Anyone done it or have any input on the subject..........

Moer then that has to be changed......

If it were that simple everyone would have done it by now. Cheapest route your gonna find is KMOD GEN.1, 1260.00 with the fox zero pro front shock and heavy guy valving/springs....this flat out works....takes a little tuning to get to your preference but works much better then the stock skid or bandaids to the stock skid.

no worries

You can, email Kevin at KMOD and he can set you up he had a dozen the beginning of the year and probably still has a few for the Apex. (Gen 1 ). He also said he could make the kits to order as he has all the jigs to do it again in the future......powder muncher has had good results with the all plastic skid by the vendor on here....it's also affordable....though I can't remember it's name at the moment.......OH Ad Bovine.

I have not hear any ride reports on the Nexen shock swap other than a guy that kept the original coil spring in place. It looks fairly simple and for the price (which is basically the price of the fox float shock here) it's tough to beat.

I like keeping my sled fairly close to stock so I can get parts easy. This allows droppping some weight off of the rear suspension while still keeping it close to stock.

That kit is almost what the op was asking about. What is with this kit that makes it work? Could use a regular shock with spring instead of the float (not that anybody want to do that, but one could..)

Yep that's kind of what I'm talking about.
