I went out for my first ride yesterday that wasn't on a lake, the trails are rough as usual-we do need some more snow.
I noticed that my rear suspension works a whole lot better now that both shocks have been rebuilt and revalved for my weight and riding style.
My limiter strap is set to hole number 2. It came with the the limiter set in the middle but that was with the crappy GT shocks.
My torsion springs are from a FX model sled. The adjusters are on hard setting (I have X-clicks so there is still one more setting left)
The Center shock's spring compression is set to hard.
My concern is the bucking brono effect I get. The suspension collapses as it should for big bumps, but then it wants to launch me. Not sure what could be doing this. I am going to play around with the rebound adjustment on the rear shock and see if that helps.
The skid has all new bushings. The center shock is a Ohlins the rear shock is that which comes on an FX model. It has anti-bottoming kit installed and Hygear Torsion spring spacers.
The vulnerable bellcrank that connects both the center and rear shocks of the skid, has been reinforced by SBM. I thinks that's enough info. I don't jump this sled. I'm a big enough guy to be driving an APEX. I prefer the dirtbike feeling of the Phazer and it feels like I am on a bike. Apex to me is like driving a half ton couch.

I find a lot of people run the spring too stiff.
What I found works great for me is turn the springs just stiff enough so that the bumper drops an inch or so when I sit on it.
The spring is to keep the sled up, the shock absorbs the bumps. My skid rides great with the springs on S and a re-valved rear shock.

Yes you either need to back off the tension on torsions or get your rear shock rebound slowed down. What is your weight?

If i do not set the springs to a harder setting I find my ride height is too low.

Then you will need to get shock rebound slowed down.Do you bottom when on medium? If not run it on medium enjoy the plusher ride and dont worry about the lower ride height.I weigh 150 and daughter is 85 and I can run on medium with no bottoming. Not your 290 but her weight is way on back. When I ride myself I am on soft through the biggest moguls I can find. Its all in the shocks with rear one being by far the most important.
