Well i dropped my suspension today to change out my slides and to my amazement the front suspension arm (w-arm on rx's) was cracked all the way though at both weld points. Took the arm into my local yamaha dealer and they said because my sled no longer had warrenty on it i was going to have to suck it up and get a new one. Has anyone had this problem with there's? Know of any way that yamaha will comp this part for me? I'm getting pretty frustrated with this part beacuase all the guys that i ride with that have yamaha's broke the same part.

Identical!...also that shock that's in there...the one that that doesn't have a spring on it. rubbed up against that arm enought that it wore two spots in the shock itself. I'm not sure if i'm gonna have to replace that or not. Have you heard if yamaha is doing anything about this? cause in my opinion it's BS that so many people are blowing though these things.

The vector arms are not known for breaking. In fact i think including u and me there might only be 3-4 members that have had them break. When i broke mine it was due to a jump that went bad. You can buy and aftermarket one from MPI of fabcraft or you can reinforce the new one when you get it. I also had to replace my rear shock. I added a Ohlins rear piggyback shock. I like it!

On the Ohlins shock for the 05's, did they change the clicker position? Saw that they're hard to adjust. I went with the Nytro shock that was easy to adjust.

Just my .01

I was going to go with the nytro clicker myself until I was quoted $583 for it at all the yammie shops I called. Got the Ohlins for $444 Shipped. Still the same hard to adjust clicker location though.

I just bought a ohlin shock for my wifes and they did not change it. It is not impossible to get at, it is a little hard when it gets packed with snow.

wow...i fixed had my w arm fixed for $20, just add some weld aroudn all the existing welds, but make sure to strip it down to bare metal first

I was adding some studs to my 05 Vector this morning when I noticed my "w" arm was broken exactly like yours in the pictures. One side was broken on the weld and the other side was partially broken on the weld and the rest was cracked through the tube. I was riding hard the last couple of days on some rough trails.

Those jap sure make a nice engine, But they can weld worth a S%%t.

I think there were some bad ones out there, I never had the problem , But I had a new W arm because the plastic bushing wear the inside of the of the arm. I got it covered because of a good dealer, but if your warrenty is up ,I think you are going to have to pay.Last spring 2 weeks before my warrenty was up , I took the sled apart and I was supprised all the problems I found I got them covered, w arm.,shock, rod in the w arm , all bushing in front of sled, But this year I will have to pay the bill.

If you're thinking of replacing the arm and want more strength, buy one for an 2007 RTX.

They are beefed up considerably where yours broke. Note that only the 07 RTX has the stronger arm (the Nytro doesn't have it).

Here is a picture of the one in my RTX:

will that fot on the 05 vector? That sure looks like a better way to go.

Is this where I welcome myself to the club?

Getting ready to ride this mornin' and saw the broken weld. Lucky it was a local ride, hate to drive for 2 hours (like normal).

Dammit. Is this beginning to be a pattern?

My understanding is it will fit (according to some posts on the Nytro forum), but I haven't actually measured to compare or tried it.

Probably your best bet is to measure the distance from pivot to pivot to make sure before you order one (hopefully everything else is the same). I'll measure mine for you and post it here.

Yes, the '07 RTX front arm will fit but you will also need to purchase new shafts & bushings. It isn't cheap.

The front arm in my Vector cracked and I welded and reinforced it but am still going to install the RTX arm because it is made from larger tubes and is a stronger part. Now I just hope it comes in before my race next weekend (backordered).

If you ride hard you should revalve your center shock and install a stiffer spring depending on body weight. Severe bottoming with the center shock will cause the front arm to eventually fail.
