Kevin, i have an 06 Apex with 9400 miles on it. Over summer I am going through the sled and replacing worn out things as necessary. My question is about clutch maintenance. Are there clutch rebuild kits than can be purchased to replace bushings and such. Or do you have to order parts separately? Do you have any experiences or ideas on what wears on the clutches and what normally will need to be replaced? The clutch still seems to be working fine.
Also I plan on replacing the speedo bearing and the bearing that is behind the secondary. What other bearings would you replace? Would you worry about the any bearings in or on the chaincase side?

Yamaha does make a clutch tune-up kit to replace the parts that normally wear out due to mileage. It includes the two large bushings (one in front cover and one in the sliding sheave) and new rollers and all the hardware to install the new rollers. The part number for the kit for an 06 Apex RTX is 8ET-W176H-00-00. If your clutch is working fine this kit would most likely be all you would need but I would be sure to take a good look at the weights and make sure they look okay and aren't showing any signs of abnormal wear. It also would be a good idea to put a new primary spring in the clutch while it is apart as they can lose some tension over time.
I would definitely recommend doing the speedo and jackshaft bearings at that mileage. As far as the chaincase bearings go that is a tough call. At that kind of mileage I am sure they have some wear but most likely could go for many more miles but you never know. I guess I would look at it this way if you intend to ride the sled up to say 15K+ I would just do them now as it would be cheap insurance as a failure could lead to some serious damage. If you plan on replacing the sled over the next season or so you may be able to get by. Kinda all based off your tolerance and comfort level of if you have a failure verses how much time and money you want to spend on preventative measures.
