Guys, I did do a search on this in all the topics but couldn't get the search to go in detail enough.

I am looking to get a new digital boost gauge and digital wideband 02 so looking for feedback on what gauge brand and models you have had good results with...
Questioning water resistance, reliability, etc. Some gauges don't play well with water and obviously going on my sled... will be out in the elements.

I had a Innovate AFR but haven't heard real good things about the reliability of them. Looking hard at AEM now. Uses the same O2 sensor as the Innovate, so not sure what's the difference of the Innovate that they tend to be perceived as unreliable?
Not going to run race gas, so lead poisoning of the sensor won't be an issue.

thoughts?

Thanks guys

We haven't had much luck with the innovate A\F (7 sleds run them). They seem to need calibration a lot or will not work then come back on. The couple of AEM ones that are on sleds seem to be reliable. For the money I would go Pro Logger period. Boost control, A\F, Engine temp, Boost,Rpm reading while record up to a minute and a half at a time and store up to 6 minutes of logs. There are other features such as never lean fail safe wastegating. A little more money but very user freindly and have been instrumental in tuning the race sleds. Compared to the 2 other data logging systems we have used Pro Logger is top notch.

I am running the AEM, I know of two other guys on thier 3rd year running AEM with no issue.

For boost just a plain old autometer phantom. Same thing other people see no problems.

Prologger sounds cool just looks hard to mount with it being a big square and all and I dont care for the display.

Good luck!

Thanks,

Pro-Logger is probably overkill, bells and whistles I don't need for a trail sled (yet). When I need that level I'll throw on a RacePak IntelliDash or something...

I've checked out the Autometer Cobalt boost and Cyberdyne Blue Ice water temps...

What about moisture ingress?

Run AEM, Boost, A/F, and Fuel pressure. All seem to work fine. Prior to last season I ran an Innovative A/F and it was always reading lean and never consistant.

I had one unit quit altogether, and it was replaced for free. The second one was always lean. I would start it and idle at 14.6; then shut off and restart and idle at 16.9 or so.

I spent more time separating and combining ground wires etc.

Put the AEM gauge on and it is always consistant.

FJO is a little pricey but they are resillient, water proof, shock and heat resistant and comes with a lifetime garantee, they will take the NTK sensor that is supposed to withstand the lead found in leaded race ruels and AVGas.

AEM for wideband, I don't trust the digital boost gauges stay away from cyberdyne! I had one on my nytro that ultimately cost me a piston and head gasket! It was reading 6 psi which I was happy with but for the weight the sled was pulling I was scratching my head, verified it with two mechanical boost gauges I was up at 11 psi! I only trust the mechanical boost gauges now!

Cool, thanks for the warning on the digital boost gauge.
Recommend an oil filled mechanical? The plain mechanical one I have now bounces all over, PITA!
reason I was looking at a digital.

Mory I second the FJO set up, I have boost, temp, and a/f and I love em. steady numbers and easy to hook up. they even have a memory/reset for highest number show.

AJ,

I knew that you have the FJO, rxrider recommended that also, so I checked out the website and it looks very nice, I like the waterproof gauge...
I take it you have to purchase everything separate? Gauge, sensor, module?

Where did you get yours?

I got mine from Jim Manning BPE perfomance he is on here "Lakercr"

For price, You get what you pay for and really, most of us have 20k plus into these sleds. And to put cheap auto zone gauges on it is a joke.

I got the whole gauge set up, temp, boost, and a/f with all sending units for around 7-800ish if I remember right. They are worth it.

Jamie, I had just the opposite experience with the Cyberdyne digital vs. a mechanical gauge.

I like the Cyberdyne, especially the newest versions. I won't run mechanicals anymore. Digitals read in tenths of a pound too.

I've run them on every boosted sled since.

Cyberdyne for me , work great digital numbers read way easier than a mechanical when your at 100 plus mph. I have used the same cyberdyne for years always verified with my electronic boost controller within two tenths of a pound.

Maybe I got a bad one, I bought mine based on Knapps recommend, however it cost me an engine! Hooked up properly, on an MPI nytro running right off the TB.
