I am looking at the MCX 180 kit for my Nytro this year, but I am concerned with the minimum octane rating for the kit. Around here the best we can get is 91, is that enough? I run about 800-1000' so how much boost would that be?
Thanks

I ran all last year at 6-8 lbs boost with no head shim on 91 octane and even 87 octane when thats all i could get , never had any issues. That was around 190 hp . That being said when you can't get good feul don't run hard, but I never had any issues and I run nytro as well, this year I went for rods and pistons going to run 12-15 lbs with meth kit. BOOST is so addictive

I have a powderlites stage 2 kit but I never did the head shim so I only ran lower boost and honestly that is all you need on the trails but as I said it is so addictive and you always want more so this year I will have 230 hp trail sled and have the ability to crank it up to just shy of 300 hp with race feul hopefuly ! And those are real dyno numbers, Dave has spent many hours getting it right for me.

The MCX kit is designed to run on 98 octane.
That is 98 octane in EUROPE. Thats equal to 91 octane in US/CAN.
We also have 95 octane, wich is the same as your 87 octane, but that is not recommended.
Im getting my sled tomorrow with a fresh MCX180 install. Can't wait!!

Well....
European premium fuel is 98(RON), same or a little better than US 93(PON). We also have 95(RON) same as US 91(PON).

Put the head shim in and have no worries with 91. We know you'll want more power. It's addictive.

Quote MCXpress:
It is designed for 90-91 octane PON gas for North America witch is the same octane rating as
98-99 octane RON for Europe and Russia.

So you say mcxpress is the only correct source for true info regarding octane rating?
Try and google "octane rating pon ron" and read.
Every source says:
Euro 98 = US 93
Euro 95 = US 91

Whatever.. I would'nt be afraid of running 91 oct on the mcx 180 kit anyways - after what MCXpress says. No matter If its equal to 95 or 98 EUR octane - That is what MCXpress says. And it should work.
