Hey guys ive got a backcountry track on my 2009 xtx that has been studded by the previous owner. Im not big on studs but liked the idea of it on my sled with the supercharger (better for braking! ). I was going over the sled last night and noticed a few marks on the front heat exchanger. It looks like it has plenty of room but the marks make me a little nervous. What do you guys think? I'll try to get a few more pictures of it soon.

Thanks

Backcountry

X2. The backcountry is a single ply track, and with your supercharger, probably causes the track to balloon making the studs hit.

studs

You only need one to pull out and hit the rad, and then your in the money pit!!!

Pull out the studs I just did it to my Ripsaw track. Just make sure you melt the holes to stop them from ripping.

I vote remove as well, one stud goes and it's a bad day. I've rode with and without as most have I'm sure. But once you know how to stop your good. Like said above, melt the holes just a bit.

Well looks like they will be coming out!! Kind of disappointing that they are hitting but I do a lot of off trail and dont want the headache of ruining a heat exchanger! My sleds still in pieces with a bunch of mods/maintainance that im doing. Ill post up pics of my sled when its done!! Thanks guys

I may be wrong but isn't this sled built around the heat exchanger per say?

Yeah i've seen pictures of guys doing the swap and you have to split the sled then still disassemble to get it changed over.

Yuck! Than I vote twice for take them out!

Alright so I spent a couple of hours tonight taking my 2.25" stud boy studs out of my track! Noticed a couple more spots where the studs had touched in the tunnel and feel a lot better now that they are out. Gonna miss the traction but not worth the potential break down. Now the studs were all in pretty good shape with no damage that I could see. No bent or broken studs and no pull outs or tears. I didnt count how many were in there put its quite a few. Anyone know if the studs are worth anything even though they are used?

Yes you can sell them but the problem with yours are they are so long only snox guys will only be able to use them or want them. I had some guy buy my 1.325s and put them in a ice drag car. Pretty limited interest
