I had a hand warmer burn out on my 2008 Nytro RTX Anniversary. The handwarmers stick...as you all know. Should I put Yamaha handwarmers on, or try aftermarket ones. I know everyone says to go with the YAMAHEATER, but I was wondering if the aftermarket handwarmers make any difference?

As I understand they do a little And there's little things to do to help them... But they don't solve the problem or turning off when you let off the throttle where yamaheaters override that so there always on... Not sure how accurate it is but its on those lines

Get the RSI ones, from Yamaha. They are warmer and when you add the Yamaheater they are perfect. You will also love the texture.

I got rsi and its way better than stock

All i know is i need to do something here soon as my hands are freezing today riding.

Yamaha what where you thinking on the 08's this is pathetic...if you can even call them hand warmers!

thanks for the input. I will get the RSI, fill the bars, and probably end up getting the yamaheater.

Bought a Yamaheater with boost a few weeks back. By far one of the best mods ever! Nice warm hands to start the ride and then you turn them down around 3 or 4 bars and your hands stay toasty.

You think the 08' are bad, find an original 06' apex and give that a try, lol. Your right, absolutly terrible, thank rock for yamaheaters!!

So i'm convinced. New heating elements and a yamahaeater. Should I pay someone to do it, or is it a do it yourself? How hard is it to get the grips on over the elements? Any advice?

Have yet to do it on the Yamaha, but they are not hard at all. Personally, I use hairspray on the inside of the grips to help it slide over the elements and once the hairspray dries, it holds the grip on pretty tight. I do notice the Yamaha grips use the rivets to hold into place. Make sure when putting the new elements on, you clean the bar off really good so it has a clean surface to stick to. There is a thread on Snowest in the Yamaha 4 stroke forum that Christopher does a step by step installation of the grips and heaters.

just put a set of the yamaha updates on my 08. they give you good instructions with the grip. took me about an hour and six beers. we'll see how they work the stock one's sucked. it also came with the grip glue

not true. rsi heaters throw huge heat. Normal riding I use only 3 out of the 8 bars. on cold days 4 bars are good. On 8 bars you will melt the grips ;)!
