I was looking at replacing my stock track on my phazer and just weighing out some options. I ride mostly off trail in some deep powder at times and I'm considering running a camoplast challenger 2" for better traction. The 14" width is an issue, as the challenger only comes in 15", Has anyone had experience cutting down a track to a prefered width, and if so was it a success? Is there any manufactures that make custom tracks in Canada? Also, would the phazer be able to run a 2.5" track?Any insight is welcome. Thanks.

Cutting a track is not that bad. Did it on a Crossover 1.5" x144". Easiest is with a table saw, like in this video.
Just be sure of your measurements. Measure 5 times, cut once. The hardest part is twisting the track inside out.

yep its freakin easy. I went really slow just being cautious, but it took maybe 40 minutes with a couple guys.
cause yeah you can pick up used tracks real cheap. Notice I hooked up my shop vac to the tablesaw dust port... it really helped keep things cleaner.... especially your face haha

Thanks for the reply's guys, I like both of the setups in the videos especially the shop vac attached to the dust port. I will definitely give it a try, I think i'm going to go with a 2" challenger track, hoping to gain some more traction in the deeper stuff. Can't wait till the snow fly's!

To answer your question regarding the 2.5" lug track on a Phazer, yes, it will fit if you are using the stock MTX drivers. In fact, a 3" lug track will also fit, but you will only have about 1/2" of clearance from the tip of the lugs to the heat exchanger, with a little less up top where the tunnel connects to the heat exchanger. If you happen to have a Phazer without reverse (or didn't mind getting rid of it), then the heat exchanger could be moved forward and you could even run the new 3.2" lug track from Camoplast, though there would need to be some modifications made where the tunnel and heat exchanger are connected.
Anyway, that's probably getting way deeper than you wanted to go for just a track swap, but you may also have some luck finding (and definitely fitting) 2.25" lug tracks. Obviously, if you want to stay 144" then you will be a little more limited in your track selections, but if you decide to stretch to a 153 or 155, then you'd have even more options, as a lot of people take their stock (ProClimb/Viper MTX and Polaris RMK) tracks off to replace with something else, so there seem to be a lot of 2.25 and 2.4 lug tracks available for a very good price. Unfortunately you would need to change your drivers if you went to one of those tracks, as they're usually using 3.0 or 2.86 pitch, rather than the Phazer's 2.52. Just a few more ideas, if you're still not totally set on doing the 2" Challenger Extreme track.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

Thanks for the info Snowmixer, I couldn't imagine where a phazer could go with a 3" track. Sounds like a whole lot of fun to me, maybe one day I will extend it to 153 and go that route. As for now I will just stick with a 2" challenger. Cheers.

Sounds like a good plan! Everything I've read or heard about the Challenger track says that it's a better track overall (than the stock Maverick that comes on the MTX), even if they do have the same lug height. I have a 155 x 2.5 Challenger Extreme that I'll be putting on my Phazer if (if I ever finish it) and the lugs are much stiffer. I always felt like the Maverick lugs folded over so easy in anything other than powder, so hopefully the stiffer, wider lugs of the Challenger will make a nice difference.
