I have a 2014 Viper. I changed the oil in the chain case. When I removed the actuator I noticed the holes where the bolt go through were starting to split. The actuator seems to be made of a hard plastic, it appears that the bolts were tightened to much the last time it was done. Has anyone seen this? Do they have a fix? A new actuator is about $200 bucks.
I have thought about putting a plate over the top of the actuator so it would sandwich it on the chain case. Thoughts?

Great, when it failed did it prevent you from driving it? I am worried I will be 1000 miles away from home when it lets go.

No you can still ride it you just cannot change it with the button. Mine failed as I drove it off the trailer backwards so was stuck in revers. just pulled the actuator and changed it by hand (with small pliers) into forward then just did not park anywhere I had to back up that weekend.
I called my dealer from the trail had them get one and stopped by on the way home the next week popped it in and away I went.

When Yamadog says his failed it was not a failure related to the split holes I bet. It just stopped working. I know this isn't making you feel better but these things are like batteries. Some are good and last forever and some are junk and are lucky to make a season. No way of knowing. Just be familiar with how to manually shift if needed. I have never seen a split one fall off . If you can get a new one under warranty and keep the split one for a spare. Your plate idea is a good one. That would also work.

Cannon is right it just stopped working. It takes very little pressure to hold them in place you will be fine with the washers or plate holding it in place.

My 2014 has been cracked since I did the chain case oil change at 500 miles. The actuator is quite brittle but lasted last years 2500 miles with plenty of reverse / forward transitions.

Dealer had a kid working that used a small impact putting the screws back in mine when they did the reverse upgrade to our first Viper....lol...you know what happened.
