I have read a lot about the issues with the phazer reverse and still don't really have an answer on how to fix. I did read about sensor/switches not being activiated to allow the shift due to a shaft in the gear box that has moved a little or something along those lines. I think the switches go to ground when activated and the reverse or forward shift then occurs. My question is, if this shaft has moved a little and stopped, can I assume that it isn't causing any damage to the gear case and can I ground the switches to allow the ecu to let the shift occur. If you have any experience with this issue, I would welcome your reply. please spare the opinions without experience.

Those sensor switches let the ECU know when the shift has been completed and what gear it currently is in. I had one that wasn't registering reverse properly because the whole gear box was on its way out and forward gear eventually died.
What makes you think you have a problem with your switches? If you are thinking that there might be something that is off inside the gear box, then you might have to take the whole thing out. Some failures have been related to the loss of oil due to the grommet and oil pipe that feeds the reverse gear box. I think mine (09 Phazer) failed because the input shaft bearing moved into the gear box and misaligned the shifting mechanism.
