Woke up to -18 below and started sled..started after third turn, chirped right up then almost died, rpm's around 700 almost like it was missing, with a few other not normal noises, after 2 minutes came back to life, never done that before even starting in -25. Anyway tried reverse to clear ice and wouldn't even budge. I said ok just cold, took off after a 30 mile run tried again and still wouldn't move, checked case oil, good and rode another 20 and tried again, finally moved in to reverse but with a little help.
Any ideas as to what is going on in there?

Yes the lever gets snow dust on it and it melts in the under hood temps all day then freezes at night. 2 years ago I started spraying the reverse lever and spring with white lithium grease and this year my Dad's vector was froze solid right next to mine and it went into reverse with ease. He is now spraying his once a year (or I am because I'm the maint mechanic it seems)

Just give her a little shot from a spay can once a year and its fixed. Doesn't take a lot so dont soak it.

Lube did not last on mine, so i liberally applied grease- works fine now. Before I greased it I found if you rode the sled and parked for a short time the heat from the engine would free-up the frozen linkage, the first few times it freaks ya out cause you think there is something wrong with the chain case- no worries though.

Mine was doing it too until I used the white Lithium grease. I just took some out of my grease gun and wiped a layer on with my finger and it's been fine ever since. That was over 2 years ago.
