Reverse Lever Jamming on Apex

I was talking to a yamaha mechanic today and from the early reports one of the problems with the apex was that the reverse lever was jamming. To fix loosen the locking nuts on the reverse lever to allow enough play for the lever to engage reverse.

The only thing I've found with my reverse lever is that when I go to engage REV; it doesn't want to slide all the way. So I just put the lever back to forward position give the sled a little gas and it has always fully engages the second time. I seem to have bad luck with the REV. gears lining up. The reverse system on all YAMAHA sleds is light years away from my old 95,96 Polaris which chewed through gears like a shark when it would pop out of REV while backing up. That grinding noise always got everybody's attention were ever you were.

No problems with mine after 120 miles. I do wish it was selenoid activated though.

It takes very little movement to get the reverse in when it don't line up, I usualy just rock back and fourth a bit with slight presure on the lever and it alway's pop's in.

Mine works sweet and i have 203 miles on it,but my bud who tightened up his track decided to also tighten up his chain in the chain case, well i warned him not to overtighten it,because it will cause the reverse to not engage,it did just what i told him,so just be careful when you rotate your secondary and think that your chain is to loose and needs adjustment,do just a little and try it out by engageing the reverse to see if it still works,if not loosen it back up.. :bling

Same problems occurred when the 03's were brand new.......it's an adjustment thing with the linkage. Doesn't take much for them to get off..... and likelywise, not a hard fix at all.

At least that was my experience. ;)!

I do the same as " kviper " and just stand up on the running boards and rock side to side a little and it pops in every time. Not engaging in reverse seldom happens to me though.
