Reverse problems

could this be something we could do on our own at home?

For us non warranty guys, that would be pretty cool...any info would be awesome!

Well the reverse motor was replaced on mine last year with what I was told was a heavier duty unit. Some improvement but by no means a 100% fix - still have to do the jumping sometimes to get it to go in. I've kinda given up on Yamaha fixing this and resolved to doing the embarrassing manoeuver of having to get off the sled and lift or push down on the rear to get the bloomin' thing to shift. Everything has been tried on mine - shims, different belt, idle adjustment, and now the motor, but it is the first I've heard of the spring tightening fix.

It pisses me off when Yammie comes up with this new fix ands says they are only trying it on a few machines - (tired of being a guinea pig) - why don't they just fix it once and for all and give up mickey mousing with it.
:yam:

when you say nothing happens do you mean it dosent go into reverse or abseloutly nothing happens like the lights dont change on the pod?[/quote]

When I say nothing happens. It´s really nothing;)
The light on the pod dont change or anything.

Any suggestions what to look for?

Not sure if this can be done at home.
I was told they took out the servo motor and turned the spring a few turns to put more force on the movement.
When you shift now, it will actually move the machine when the gears line up, if you don't have hold of the brake, and the noise of the engagement is much louder.

When I get the machine out this weekend I'll try to post a video.

there should be a way to bypass the switch? jumping wires or something unless it is all computerised. i guess you could always put your guage on another phazer and find out. i dont think that would cause any issues. im not too good with electrical though lol

No it´s a Fx -07, with reverse.
I guess thet were sold with this as standard in sweden.

What I can see in the electrical diagram, the POD is not possible to check if the reverse switch is Ok!?

I made a call to the local Yamahadealer for just a momen ago, and the also told me about an update for the ground between battery and chassi that could cause problems too.

Anyone heard about this before?

There seems to be a lot of different problems with this system..!?
