Anybody heard of yamaha NOT reccomending the use of this spring during the early recall of the jackshafts? We tore my old mans 05 vector chaincase apart this weekend to install a 21 T top gear and there was no spring in there so we figured it was forgotten. When he went to order another one the dealer said its not needed but we went ahead and ordered it anyway. Anybody heard this just for Vectors?

Below is a picture in case you dont know what I'm talking about. Thanks

Never heard of that..
Doing my maintenance lately, went thru it... its there, healty & good lookin'.

Would a box wrench work? Thanks I can get one for $8.00 used! Thanks

Its TQ'ed to 65 ft-lbs and took a air ratchet to get off, that socket was a life saver and it also includes the socket that fits over the secondary jackshaft and I had my old man holding it with a 24" breaker bar, otherwise you got nothing to hold the jackshaft from spinning.

Get the tools, its worth the $50, if I didn't need them this month I would send you mine to use.

Why can't another person just grab hold of the secondary to prevent it from moving while the other person cranks on the wrench????

....old post poping up eh !
What i do is get my torq wrench on nut side sitting on the frame, (attatched if need be) then i spin the secondary myself on the other side.
sometime one is as good as two.
..and it uses less beer too.
