Took a vacation day today and went to Detroit.Lakes MN for the demo rides. I rode the 129 first. The handling was probably the best I've ever ridden, very flat and very stable with little or no ski lift at all. Ride was real plush but didn't bottom at all. Power wise it felt a little sluggish compared to my Nytro but it had no studs and the got a little fresh snow so it spun pretty badly. It actually felt stronger in the midrange don't really know about top end. I had it to about 85 on the lake and it was still pulling hard. The 141 felt about the same to be honest which surprised me. I've rode 121" sleds my whole life, never figured having that much track would handle that well. It took me a long time to get comfortable on my Nytro but this thing was instantly confidence inspiring. The gauges were nice although not as nice as the standard cat gauge its a big step up from the Nytro. Didn't notice the clutch rattle either which was nice. Hand warmers were almost too hot with the exception of the one that didn't work on the 141. Love the seating position and ergos. The chassis is superior in every way to the Nytro IMO . Left the demo rides and went to Pinehurst and rode the Nytro to Bagley and back. Trails were amazing and I wished I was on the Viper. It just seemed so effortless to get through the corners compared to my Nytro. Was really impressed.

That's exactly how I felt when I rode them.....nice write up ;)!

After I rode them I was scared to post anything . In fear that people would just go on the attack ...but I must say this post is going very well so far....

X2, maybe we can keep this one clean.

I'm hoping to pick up an XTX in a couple years. I don't want to pick up a first year model for obvious reasons. The other big reason is if I got a 1st year model and they came out with a boosted model the following year I would be pissed!

I ride them a week ago in old fordge and I agree with your post. Cornered great with no ski lift and soaked up the big and little bumps with ease. I'm going tomorrow to see what they will give me for my nitro, hopefully we can make a deal.
Glad to see this has not turned into a bash thread, that's why I didn't post what I thought of the viper, don't feel like arguing. IMO fantastic sled!!!

I look at it like this; Cat gets a great motor and Yamaha gets a great handling skid. Cat gets an uptic in quality, Yamaha gets a downtic in quality. I don't think it will be as bad as all the naysayers are crying otherwise Yamaha wouldn't be taking the financial risk of giving them a 3 year warranty. But for me, at their price point, I'm still leaning towards a 1200 Doo Renegade. I can get a proven X package for about $1,400 less than the Viper LTXse......

I want the Viper I love the suspension package the ergos the seating position I am just scared of the power loss from my Apex. Plus I can get a demo or lightly used 2011 Apex SE for 9500$ and a new Viper LTX SE is 13500 here at local dealer. hmmmm I will be seriously looking at the Viper during the dealer show next week. I am almost wishing some one would just straight up tell me that I will love the viper vs apex and should seriously consider trading for a Viper. I guess I could get a viper and if I don't like it go back to an Apex the following year. Oh decisions decisions lol Looks like a good sled and seems to be selling well already.

I would say you have to ask your self do you ride more open smooth fast stuff (Apex) or tighter bumpier stuff (Viper). Easy peasey.
Or save for a turbo for the Viper and have it all!!

I was a little disappointed with the nytro motor coming off my 06 apex but not too much. I love the low end torque of the 3 cyl power plant and now that it's in an awesome and lighter chassis? Look out!!!

we test the ltx and xtx last wenesday in National park of Mont Tremblant on 75 miles distance and that exactly what i felt trail was little rough 1 to 1 1/2 foot muggle on some portion of it and no problem at all this machine is a good compromise beteween handling and comfort couple of minute is enough to tame the beast and with the 10.5 us gallon tanks provide a good fuel range compare to the nytro
