Roller Secondary

I'll sell my team tied conversion for half of new.

Why are you selling it and not running it?

It's a trail sled low elevation kit and I ride deep snow 2 1/2" lug track so I have never been able to get it dialed in. I don't think team has done enough mountain R&D with the nytro to be of much support. With Team being a MN company I'd like to think they have a good trail set up. If I don't sell it I'll put it on my shorty and try it out. Not sure what I'm going to run on my tube chassis yet since it's a polaris jack shaft.

I'm just wanting to change my helix... I wanna know if there is a helix that will improve my acceleration for drag racing.. I wanna do an uphill race and maybe some ice drags.. Don't know if one helix could help me out for these races.

Nytroman20, I was told that a 47/43 works well with the DnFs...I'm going to try it this year with my setup and see how it works out.

I'll probably go with a Dalton...not sure about spring, need to talk with my buddy about that. I amy also try smaller rollers to see if lower engagment helps with getting it off the line

I'm assuming it's a multi angle helix? With this give better acceleration or better top end or even both? And will it affect the rpmconsidering I have my primary dialed in with the black spring? Or is that only if I was to change the spring? Cause I know if I increase the spring rate my rpm goes up but if I lessen the rate to let's say 6-1 it lowers them and the clutch opens too quick in deep snow and kills power... Very confusing! Lol

Quit guessing and buy a clutch kit fron Ulmer. Service/support is worth the springs and helixs you will buy and test. Dailing the clutching is time consuming...Man I miss Turk

Starting over I would have considered it but I bought the d&fs two years ago... It's not a big thing but I guess were always looking for a little more out of these machines! I think I'd rather spend money on extending it to a 136 and putting a 1.5 intense on her instead of messing with clutching that has endless possibilities... I might still look into converting my secondary button style to mpi roller clutch with a multi angle helix... So many things I wanna do but there's only so much I can spend on this thing lol

It is all very confusing stuff...and I know squat about it but am trying to learn. The helix angle I mentioned was one that I was told Turk used with his Nytro setups. I was told that that is should shift quicker...maybe someone with more clutching experience will chime in for some help. I don't think I will have to change the secondary spring with the addition of this helix.

Agreed Bottlerocket..I too miss Turk and his advice and knowledge...so I think I'm gonna take some advice I saw him give from time to time...I'm buying AAENs clutching for dummies handbook!

Clutching does have endless posabilities but huge gains are there. A general rule of thumb on the helix is the lower the angle that is for increased backshift for the mountain guys. The taller helix is more towards the trail guys for increased upshifting or drag racing. For best performance you want to shoot for cool running clutch surfaces first. Then with a helix that will fit your riding style and terrian. If you notice in the manual for options the increased upshift is found on the trail sleds and increased backshift is found on mountain sleds or where ever your sled falls in between.

But again huge gains can be found here if you spend the time to learn it. It took me a season of tinkering to find huge seat of the pants gains on my Phazer MTX. When you have less power to work with it is amazing what can be found. The Aaen clutch manual is huge in understanding clutching although it starts out as what does all this mean. Once you feel the difference it becomes addicting to find more just don't get lost on to severe of a change as you go along.

Thanks up bushman! Would you recommend a multi angle helix? And if I keep the spring wrap at 6-2 and change the helix, will it affect my rpm?
