Rode apex er last weekend for first time. Awesome engine and handling. Really felt the small and medium size bumps. Sled only has 300 miles so things could be on the stiff side but skid didn't feel like it was stroking the way it should. I'm 230 with gear. Before first ride, I set preload on 6 without measuring sag. RA 5 clicks up from full soft. Late Saturday stutter bumps felt hard. Stopped trailside and reduced preload to 4. Felt like that made a minor difference. Sunday ride was filled with bumps. Not moguls though. I was getting pounded. I wasn't coming up off the seat so I think the RA was set properly for rebound. I reduced preload to 2 and felt like that made a minor difference but not alot of skid action. Weird thing was, I didn't bottom on preload 2 and I was expecting to. I'll be up at cabin again next weekend. Anyone have any tips or thoughts?

Not really sure, but I have not a single complaint about that suspension. I weigh about 180 and I have mine on the 3rd setting and about 5 or 6 off of soft. Something doesnt sound right about your rear suspension... I dont think it would have anything to do with the transfer, but do you get alot or very little transfer? That may have something to do with it.

I weight 280 so I put in the "fat boy" spring. I have it on clip 2 preload 4. I was riding our Mass. beat up trails last week and I was getting beat on also? I pulled over only to realize I had my RA setting on full soft...I put it to full hard and I instantly had my "baby" back! That RA does wonders for this suspension...try the extreme range in settings and see how it works.
