Wit my oldest boy turning 8 this season, I figured it was time to get a two up since I struggled to see around him in front of me last year.
I went with the RTK seat/storage box. I liked the idea of the storage for overnight trips, its less expensive than other options, is easyon/off. I bought online, but I don't believe the are TY supporters so I won't post the vendor.( Also don't think any TY supporters do sell this seat)
1) Unboxing. Required unscrewing the seat from a woodframe it was shipped on.
2) Measure and figure out where to screw holes in tunnel for the bracket and mounts. Unfortunately, the instructions indicated I should screw 1/2" down from top of tunnel. Had I done that, the bracket would not have fit.So, I was either shipped the wrong bracket or the instructions were wrong. No big deal, I held the bracket up and figured it out.
3) Screw in the mounts through the tunnel holes you just drilled and the bracket on the inside of the tunnel. Do not tighten the mounts!
4) Slide the seat onto the front mounts. This was not easy. I ended up loosening the mounts and fighting it on. The trouble is the seat bracket bumps against the back of the floorboards where it kicks up. I wouldn't suggest moving it towards the front of sled anymore as it would intrude on the drivers seat too much. Going back wouldn't make sense either, but going up higher would have made it easier to install and probably would "pinch" the drivers seat a bit less. Once the fronts are on, you push the seat down onto the back brackets and it snaps in place. If I ever take this off I will use a grinder to give myself more room.
My 51" tall son fits nicely, but can't reach the footrests. I didn't install them, maybe next year when he is taller.
The seat weights 32 pounds.
I'm 5' 10" 185 lbs and struggled to sit comfortably, the seat feels short front to back for me. Plenty of room side to side. But, I don't plan to be using it, just the kids!
Footrests and storage bag were an extra charge, they are not included.
Overall quality is great. Wish it would have mounted easier but we are excited to try it out this year!
