Looking to up grade wifes sled from a 05 rx1 . I have 09 gt and she rode it for a day and now wants one . She only rides few times a year so a used sled would be fine. I have considered a 09 rtx but not sure of the ride . What do you guys thing . thanks

I had 06 GT and rode 06 RTX. Rtx ride is 50% better IMO.

Ctp1528,
Stick with the apex gt or any apex or vector, your wife will love it so much better then a RXT..IMO

But a 06 RTX and a 09 RTX have totally different rear suspensions.. I'm guessing your wife might not like the ride of the 09 RTX, it's gonna be stiffer. On the other hand, if the price is right you'll have a few options. You could ride it while she rides "yours" on those few times she actually goes riding... or you could look for a mono to put in it.

I'd look for an Apex with a Mono shock skid over the RTX any day of the week. No question. Much more plush, better trail manners, and easily adjustable trailside. GT, SE, or basic models all had the Mono.

But to answer your question. You want a mono-shock for your wife.

The 09 stock suspension is sprung very stiff, I am 250 with gear and I could barely get it to sag a half an inch! You'll be doing alot adjusting to get a comfortable ride. That being said, after shock revalve and changed springs and alot of tweeking it's the best riding sled I've owned.

Depends how heavy your wife is. I,m 180 lbs, plus gear, and I,ve got my 07 RTX suspension set as soft as possible, and I would prefer it to be even softer. Also the seat foam on mine is to firm for my weight. If I had a choice, I would prefer a softer seat foam as well. All in all, I still thing the sled is great, the way I finally have it set for me.

I have a 07 rtx, and if she rides conservatively i would no doubt go with a gt. Any rtx even with a revalve doesnt eliminate the small trail chatter like the mono. Espectially if she is strickly a sit down type rider.I love my rtx, but you dont get the feeling of a lot of suspension movement underneath you when going through the rought stuff. The faster you go the better it feels.

2006 RTX HAS A MONO SUSPENSION. CHANGED IN 2007 TO PRO ACTION DUAL SHOCK, AS WELL AS THE LOWER GEARING. 22 TOP GEAR INSTEAD OF 24 TOOTH

Why not a Vector? An even better trail ride and better fuel economy than the Apex. Still has a ton of bottom end and mid range.

If your wife rides like a snow-cross wanna-be, then the RTX will make her happy -- or if she really enjoys lots of sharp jabs -- or if your trails are really well groomed when you go riding. A revalve made mine ride-able. If I keep my 08 RTX it will get a different skid.
