Been playin with my RTX suspension, I like other have had some issues with pushing in corners and bottoming the skid. I weigh about 235 and finally am getting the sled to where I really like it, these few changes made a HUGE difference for me. I moved the clip on the monoshock to the middle notch and have the cam on #3, adjusted the transfer rod 1/8" toward min and am running the floats with 100# with the sled sitting on the ground. I now bottom on only hard hits, it rides sweet , is much more confidence inspring and carves a pretty good corner with the stock carbides, the sled even feels lighter when its set up right. With some good carbides I think Im golden for now. Im pretty surprised at how nicely the mono RA responds to adjustments, this is the beginning of a long lasting love affair.

I hope Kim doesn't get jealous with this new "love affair" your starting!!! I'm very interested in the changes you made and I want to do some comparo's. I don't have the floats but I'm sure everything else will be the same. I should be getting those shaper bars in a couple of days and if you want a set you can have one. I think I'll start with the carbides and then work from there.

This is a helpful post - thank you. There's a lot of info on setting up the GT, but there hasn't been as much about the RTX. Hopefully the RTX owners can keep sharing info like this thread and the thread about float air pressure.
I weigh the same as you. I'm having the c -clip moved to the middle position while it's in the shop this week. I don't do a lot of jumping or anything so I'm hopefull that this change will take care of my bottoming. In the short 28 miles I've ridden it so far I found the weight transfer to be too much. It's like a dragster - hit the gas and the skis are in the sky. I'll probably follow your lead and try a small adjustment to the transfer rod. I ran the floats at 70 lbs (measured with skis off the ground). I have no idea how this translates to your 100 lbs on the ground. The front never bottomed - but it felt kind of tippy. I might try 65 lbs and see if it makes the sled a little lower.
The handling will take a little dialing in and getting used to - but the engine - oh my god it really hauls the mail!!!!

Has anyone tried the shock on the 3rd clip(max) yet? I haven't heard of anyone trying it yet for the big boys.

If you search the RX forum I think you'll find some guys last year that tried it with their RX1s. IF my memory serves me - I think the general feeling was that if the 2nd setting was stiff enough you were all set - but if you needed the 3rd setting it was probably worth getting the fat boy spring.

I have mine on the third clip. I like a stiffer suspension though. For me (240-250 with gear) it feels like I'm floating over the chop and only bottomed a few times in some really hard hitters. Guy who rides a rev in my riding group rode it at that setting and said it was too stiff for him and he weighs more than me. I bottomed a lot more on his rev though so who knows. I guess it's just personal preference.
I'm now torn about 2nd versus 3rd clip position. Dealer says that the recent setup bulliten from Yamaha says 2nd clip works for riders up to 250 lbs. That would be with the cam adjuster turned up to # 6 or 7. 3rd clip position starts at 250 lbs at cam position 1 and goes up from there.
I'm 235 naked, which would put me at around 250 with gear. I was originally planning on the 2nd clip, but dealer feel 3rd might make more sense because I could start at cam #1 and still be able to adjust higher if needed.
I'm just fearful that clip 3 would raise the ride height too much and detract from handling. I told him I would get back to him.

I went with the C-clip at the second setting. I'll report back on how it goes. Several guys I ride with went to the second setting and are very happy.

Hi bill you did the right thing,i had them move it to the 3rd clip and it ruined it in the chop and made it better in the big g-bumps but thats all,so i will move it back to 2nd clip or get the big boy spring for more compliance and tuneability...vice108 said:I went with the C-clip at the second setting. yammimoose,
I think the big boy sping gives you a plushier ridebetter ride. you can leave in on soft setting with more forgiveness.
with the stock spring set at it's stiffest, there is less free travel then the bottom out things bites you in the a$$.
I have only tried my sled with the heavy spring in it in some small rolling hills(where you get pounded at the bottom on each hill) and some choppy bumps and like the feel so far. I don't have enough snow to hit the trails after the rain this week.
