Rx-1 2005 Secondary Sheave

Hmm, My Yamaha dealer say : "We havent noticed any problew with the Secondary Sheaves before.., you are out of warranty so its gonna be around 585$ :ORC "

Seems like I'll order the parts from US then.
It clear that the cracks has been there for a long time.

To me its clear its a weakness in the material that has caused this problem. Or a bad design ;-)

The sled is still stock, so no modifications.
Anyone with experience from other Secondary Sheaves like, TEAM or so ?

Still I might get a new Secondary from another dealer for a reduced price.
I'll let you know. This shouldnt happen to a sled that has a price of around 21 000 US$ after only 2000 miles...

OUCH, you can have a real secondary for 545.00

berrob - I talked to my local dealer here in Lakselv, Norway. He did what a dealer shoud do, when he saw my cracked secondary ramps he fixed my problem no questions asked. My sled was only a few weeks shy off the end of the 2 year warranty period.

Ted - That's a real secondary, is it the Tuner from STM? If I were to buy one of those, what additional cost would there be setting it up for my turbo sled? I guess I will have to add a helix and spring to match my sleds power.

That's it, just a helix and spring, I don't know about where you are, but around here guys have bucket full of Cat helixes and springs, so you can borrow till you find what you like then buy.

I have a starting point, Green Cat spring and 50-40 helix for flat landers.

Thank you Ted, for the info.

I'm going to run 16-18 lbs of boost this season :-)
My secondary is still holding up the power, but if it ever fail and I have to buy a new one I know where to look for the Tuner.

Here are some pics of my secondary sheave that i promised.

i had the same thing happen on my 05 as far as the ramps breaking. i honestly didn't even try to make a claim under warranty, i already had a team sittng in the garage. So i just set up the team and i like it now, but i did notice a few mph lose. i've had the team secondary on for 2-3000 miles so far with no problems.

It was the ramp in my '05 secondary that was breaking, in 2005 they still had the under engineered button ramp. The sheave in my picture is the replacement part, the partno for this part is the one shown in Yamaha parts catalog from model year 2004-2008. In 2006 they got the new sheave partno into production.

Guys....how many miles are you showing when this happens? I have about 6000 miles on my RX1 and haven't seen this happen yet but I'll be keeping an eye out for it.

Guess I had about 2000-3000 miles on the secondary. Remember, I ran it in my turbo sled at 285 HP, that did stress my secondary way beyond what a stocker would do.

Around 4800 miles I think. I climb alot so perhaps that can have somthing to do with it. Full throttle, off throttle, full throttle... :-) Still it should hold up.

Mine did the same thing on my 04 warrior, Instead of replacing it I purchased the P-C102.....Pioneer Composite Roller.....$279.00 from Pioneer Performance. It worked great. Just another option for not as much money.

Hmm, tired today, It should be around 2100-2300 miles... I think Ill get the new updated part next week. The local Yamaha dealer here is the biggest one in Sweden, and they claim they never heard about this problem. But the again, the Swedish market is really small compared with US. I think they sold 40 RX-1 2005 in Sweden :-). But prob becaus of the huge stock of 2004 RX Warrior... new ones of the was sold as late as 2006 here !
