I don't have any other RX-1's to compare my 05 to so I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

How smoothly do your RX-1's idle?

Mine is going in to the dealer for a checkup tomorrow and one of the minor issues I have is it doesn't idle like the RX-1 on the Yamaha web site.

Mine varies between idling smoothly and sortof "put, put, putting", like it's missing on one cylinder. Is this typical or do yours idle perfectly smoothly?

My 05 does the exact same thing.
It has 6 miles on it so far.
Let me know what they find as I really don't want to take mine back to teh dealer I bought it from.

mine does the same thing...I am sure they are out of sync a bit....I am going to sync my carbs and I am sure it will go away

My sled did the same thing!! Also had to hit the gas to get it to start after warm..

ONce I Sincornized my carbs... WOW .. idles super smooth and starts WITHOUT hitting has when warm..

I was synching my carbs and had the same thing happening. I'd get 2,3,and 4 very close to each other and them I'd bring #1 into the mix and whole idle would drop off. I could see the vacuum go down on the manometer. I was wondering do I synch to the high idle or the labored idle? I did my best to split the difference.
On my sled it's definately #1 that's the problem. In fact when I first hooked up the manometer it showed no vacuum at all. Now of course it is set with the others but my idle is still not where I'd like it to be. Today I will clean the pilot jets and see if it helps.

Frosty

when you sinc your carbs do 1&2 to the same value then 3&4 tothe same value then the center adjuster to make both pairs even

I got my sled back from the dealer yesterday.

They tried just syncing the carbs, but that didn't really fix the idle. Then they pulled the carbs and adjusted the pilot screws to stock (2 turns out) and resynced the carbs.

It's supposed to be fixed and it does idle 100% better. Now most of the time it idles smoothly, but every now and then has a minor miss (sometimes once every second or two, other times it sits there idling smoothly).

Other than the idle I can't detect any change in throttle response or ease of starting (still needs a little blip when hot if I want it to start the instant the key is turned).

Until I hear another one idling better (haven't heard any RX-1's around here) it's good enough for me...
