For the second weekend in a row I had starting problems with my wifes mountain.
The first week end, I was able to start the machine warm it up then load it on the trailer. When we got to our riding location I went to fire it up and it started like normal with the choke on, but then died about 30-45 seconds after I started it. When I tried to restart, it just sputtered and back-fired and never re-fired. It smelled really gassy but I couldn't really tell.
This week end, was identical with the exception that I didn't even get it on the trailer. I started it in the garage and about 30-45 seconds later it died and would not restart. All it would do is sputter, pop, and backfire alot. I tried letting it sit all day, (while I had to use my second back up sled, my sons Summit 600) and after all day I went to try and start it, it did the same thing. All it would do is backfire and sputter.
The only thing I can think of that might have anything to do with it is the choke, but I don't know. I may have not reduced the choke as I should of in time, but I wouldn't think that would have this much to do with it. Really frustrating, 2 Yami's and one Summit 600 and the only one running is the Summit. What do I do?

Choke
Yes, leaving the choke on too long can foul a plug and give you the result that you have.

1FunRX1, as the other two have said I too think it's your plugs. If you are doing what Buckeye thinks, then that is your problem. I rarely use the choke more than 10 seconds. Just long enough for it to start and then I back it off slowly until there is no choke and the engine is idling to warm up.

Agreed, the plugs are fouled.
Brief start ups without fully warming the motor will agravate this also.
One other thing how about the flooding while trailering that some others have discussed :?:
I have no experiences with this as my sled never gets trailered I live on the trail system.
