A buddy of mine hase a 2005 rx-1. HE says he has a rattleing noise when it is on idle. It sounds like it is behind his rear clutch. When he rev's it up it stops. Was wondering if anyone might know what it could be?
Thanks,

I have an 03 same thing happens. If it's just a light rattle it's normal. I remember reading on here about turning up the idle a little and it will go away.

I will let him know.

clutch noise
There is a kit that you can buy from Yamaha and this would be installed on the clutch and the noise will be gone. I think that the vector engines had the most trouble with the clutch noise. The cost is around 12.00 I think.....good luck.....Don

its the gear reduction, raise RPM to 1800, that will fix it.

Re: clutch noise
That kit is for the 3-cyl clutch. Due to having fewer bigger cylinders, the crankshaft rotation is a little extra jerky at idle, which causes the clutch to shake around and rattle. The 4-cyl rattle comes mainly from the play between the PTO shaft and the crankshaft.donbarb said:There is a kit that you can buy from Yamaha and this would be installed on the clutch and the noise will be gone.
