2003 Yamaha RX-1
hello, I started up my 2003 Yamaha rx-1 today and went for a ride with my buddy, I rode about 10 miles and shut the sled off at the restaurant we went to. when I went back out to start it, I turned the key and nothing happens, no noise, it doesn't even try to turn over. just to rule out any ideas:
  • yes the battery is fully charged and we tried to jump start it.
  • yes the shutoff switch was pulled up
I was able to wrap a strap around the drive wheel and pull started it, it ran just fine on the way back except for the check engine light was flashing, the light was not flashing when I left home.
I have never had any problems like this before and the sled only has 1800 miles on it.
any help is appreciated, thank you!

WOW hope your with me if mine won't start, your a bad man to pull start that 4 cylinder,

starter might be fried because solenoid stuck on. do you remeber if the engine icon was on with the light?

The check engine light was on when I was riding home.

Big dog rx1, haha It was still pretty warm, it was actually pretty easy to pull start just a few wraps around the drive wheel with a tow strap and give it a good pull while your buddy holds the gas half throttle and she fired right up

Im 99% sure I found the problem, the starter solenoid is fried, I can jump the solenoid and the engine starts right up I am going to try to find a new one in the morning.
