it just started doing this. I fire it up and at idle I hear a rattle. I rev it up and the rattle goes away. I am new to sleds and have no idea what to do.

Thanks In Advance

Its NORMAL, your idle RPM is set to low, make sure to have it idling 1500 rpm's min. and it'll be fine.

Completely normal. Noise is comming from the gear box. Nothing wrong, just annoying. Do what apltx08 said...bump up the idle a little bit.

my nytro was making a rattling noise. But i figured out it wasnt that, its some little donut gaskets for were the exhaust comes off the engine and connects into the other exhaust pipes. My dad and Brother both have a RX-1 and there clutches dont rattle one bit. Just throwing that out there.

It depends on the year of the RX the 03's were particularly bad for this noise at idle. Gear reduction between the end of the crankshaft and the clutch mounting "stub". Yammie tightened the meshing of the gears considerably after 2003.

If your carbs are out of sync, or one or more carbs are dirty it won't help the situation. I know at 1000rpm when its cold mine has a rattle, but at 1500rpm when warm its smooth.

How can I adjust iddle speed? (newbie here too, without owners manual)

I have a horrible rattle that did not exist last season. Just took my sled out fitst time and have an issue with a horrible rattle.

from 12sec ->> sounds awful.

I had my sled serviced at the end of last season by Yamaha dealer. Maybe they set the iddle too low?
