Apparantly Yamaha is releasing Apex Y Pipes in stainless steel, buddy got some the other day and we will be installing them tonight. The rumor is the price is around a $100.00 per pipe.

Just called my Dealer in Markham, apparently this is true, on my way to pick one up now $85 cdn each.

Got em. It is true just call your dealer. 1/4 the cost of OEM Titanium :jump:

My dealer couldn't find a part number if his life depended on it. Maybe somebody could share that info when they get a moment? Where to look? Or must they call Yammi?

Edit: BTW, what happened that they are finally starting to admit to issues? Will we be hearing about a new ski next?

Thanks "Coach" could you post pics of them and flanges are they any different, do they still use the regular donuts and clamps?

Great info guys :-)

Installed them last night $85. and $95. Part numbers are 8FP-14610-10 and 8FP-14620-10. Can,t remember which is left and right but I quess it does not matter as you need both. These use the standard clamps and donuts, I reccomend shaving the pins on the clamps slightly, once the clamps are installed take pliers and you may see the clamps are not tight, ours needed to shaved a little more.

What are the chances that yamaha will issue a recall on the titanium y pipes? I have a number guys that I ride with that have had cracked pipes and flanges. Is the stainless steel more durable than titanium or is just cheaper and heavier?

Don't hold your breath on a recall! Stainless is cheaper, more durable and a bit heavier. Depending on the quality and make-up of the Titanium, it can be up to 40% lighter then Stainless Steel and is supposed to have a higher strength.

Sorry No pics, put it back together last night no issues. As far as duability goes, only time will tell. Weight is noticeably heavier in the new pipes.

How are you guys buying them so cheap? Suggested retail is $238 and dealer cost on these is supposed to be $137 each. Whoever is selling you guys those at those prices is making you a damn good deal! Stock titanium retail pricing is $387 each!

Titanium may be stronger and lighter, but the harmonic vibrations could be worse because the dampening is different.

I don't recall these issues on teh original RX1's.
