Hey Guys,

For those that use SeaFoam do you dump the whole bottle in the tank. I thought I would run a can through the system for injector health. What are your thoughts on this does anyone use injector cleaner much on these machines?

I would follow the instructions on the can for proper proportions, which is 1oz. per gallon. I've used it and haven't really noticed any difference.

For what's it's worth, I use Yamaha's Ring Free. Cleans pretty much everything and has good reviews here. For an engine that's never been treated and you follow their high concentration recommendation, it will turn your oil black.

Do you put the ring free in the fuel or oil or both? I was just going to put the Seafoam in the fuel only.

Sea foam can de used in the oil and gas but I would only run it in the gas unless you never change the oil and it is carboned up. I run sea foam in all my gas engines they all start up right away.

Ring Free is only for the fuel. Seafoam in the oil is ONLY when you are changing the oil and I wouldn't use it in our engines just because it would thin out the oil too much.

I have been adding 1oz of ring free per tank (10) gal for this entire season have noticed smoother idle (was having crapy idle issues..now gone)and much better cold starts. As you noted I have checked the oil and see that it is much darker than is has been in the past so you know its working. I have talked to a guy that has seen the inside of these engines that have used ring-free from day one and says they are "next to new" clean and has also never had any fuel delivery systems act up while using ring-free. I will stick with this product from here on out especially since it's a yamaha recommended treatment. Also the bottle I have says it is for helping to keep combustion chambers and rings clean of deposits as well as fuel systems.... (it comes in a 16oz "concentrated" form) I will also use it as a summer treatment for storage...good stuff IMO.

Yep thats what Seafoam says on the can. Been using it in the old RX for 18,000 miles.

Quite possible. Like all things, Yamaha just repackages stuff made by somebody else as they don't have a chemical plant or an oil refinery for their oil. One difference is that Yamaha's Ring Free isn't a stabilizer.

I used the Neutra for my 2 stroke Viper in the off season. I would start it once a month, rev it up a little and clean it out until the motor was warm. This prevented me from having to remove the carbs every year.

Now that I have an Attak I just put Stabil in it being they don't have near the issues like the carbs do plugging up the pilots.

The only bad thing I found with the Neutra was I believe it was kind of harsh and I had to replace my reed pedals at 6,000 miles. It seemed as if the fuel treatment raised havoc on the material of the stock reeds. After that I put in carbon fiber reeds and I never had issues since. Sold the Viper in December with 9,000 + miles and they still looked good.

I did use Seafoam previous to Neutra and had issues every year with plugged pilots on the carbs. Personally I think Seafoam is fine probably as good as Stabil, maybe better, just wasn't as harsh as the Neutra. I would easily use SF in a fuel injected machine.
