Hello there guys and girls.
Soon the winter is here again ( yippie), and i thinking bout changing the skid on my attack - 06.
Im sooo tired of changing hyfax several times during 1 winter on the monoshock.
Have installed marginal snow wheel kit, but it dosent help.

So im thinking bout getting a boivin skid, the expert x or the new ZX-2.
Im also want a nicer approach angle so it goes nicer in the deep snow.
Already have a 2 inch track( yes i know thats one of the reason i burn hyfax, but burnd hyfax like crazy even with the ripsaw)

How is the approach angle on the boivin skids? , and should i buy a 121 and set it back to fit my track ( to get a even better angle) or should i just buy a 136?
If i buy a 121 and do a "setback" will handling of sled be mutch worse than if i buy a 136?

Anyone have any skid to recomend other than boivin?
im not after a "mountain" skid. i kinda seraching 4 a "allaround"

I have tried to serch 4 someting similar on this forum, but im still dont really know.

I would appreciate all the help and dos/dont i can get.

:rocks:

ZX2 hands down you will never ride anything again. Nothing can compare, I have ridden edge, M10, skidoo SC3,4,5

Only thing I cant compare it to is the ExpertX I have never ridden one of those.

I cant say enough good things about the ZX2 it really did exceed my expectations.

ok, so it that good ey.
Do you have the 121 track Kinger?

Ive think i read it somewhere here on ty4stroke that its not recomended to have zx-2 if you have over 200hp. not that i have turbo yet, but considering it.

for sure, the zx-2 are intresting.

I have a 121" predator 1.25" track with 1.44" studs and no issues with the ZX2. rxrider is pushing a lot more power then 200hp and has no problems that I'm a aware of with the skid. I am over 200 hp on the nitrous and have had no issues either. First year teething issues were very very minor and its proving to be the skid to beat.

ok

Is the approach angle better than the monoshock standard skid?
what would you recomend, buy a 136 or a 121 and do a setback.

ty ALOT for 4 your help. ;)!

What kinger says.

I'm running 280+ HP in my RX-1 and my buddy is running 300+ HP in his Attak. We both ride the ZX-2 with a 136" extension. Approach angle is far better than both the 121 and 136 Mono skid versions. The ZX-2 will outlast the Mono by far. I got 2300 miles on the hyfax last season still about half life left, my friend got 3000+ miles on his pair, they're shot tho.

Note that with both expertx and zx2, there is no such thing as a "136 inch" skid. Zx2 is available in 121" ONLY, and other lengths are achieved using extensions and/or relocation. Expertx is available in 121, 144, and 151 inch and again, other lengths available by extension and/or relocation.

Due to some changes in the skid design between the expertx and the zx2, some relocations may not be feasible. For example, it is my understanding that in 136" form (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong on this), the only option for zx2 is extension alone. Expertx though, is well known for being extremely flexible in this regard. If you choose an expertx and want a very flat approach angle, you probably want to go with both extension AND relocation, otherwise you'll end up really nose heavy. I would say to move it back by no more than 4" and make up the difference with a short extension. Asides from the weight distribution, the other reason not to move it to far back is that the further the rails are from the drivers, the easier it is to derail the track.

LB - I think you are correct on the ZX-2 stretching from a 121 to a 136 track, relocation is not feasible, easily that is. It can be done (maybe) by adding a drop bracket and moving the tunnel reinforcement place back 4" - maybe ? The ZX-2 flexes more than the steel/alu skids, so derailing could be an issue to consider before doing such a mod. So far with the ZX-2 136 ext I've had no problem going anywhere in the deep stuff as long as I'm able to use the motor for what it's worth, 16 lbs of boost is pushing some track speed....

Go ZX-2 it works in the deep, for me and my friends at least it does (all turboed, 280 HP and up to 310 HP), durability is great also great, besides the sliders only a few idler wheels needs replacement.
