Hey guys, Ok, I took my seat off of my APEX to check some things out and do some maintenance. When putting the seat back on everything ligned up properly, and I didn't have to force anything, but now the front of the seat is loose and moves side to side. It also doesn't seem to be back as far as it should be as I can tell by looking at the exhaust.

The J hooks on the back of the seat only allow the seat to go back to one position so I didn't change where it was before. Oh, I have not moved the exhaust, or the fuel tank, so I ruled that out as well.

Has anyone else ever had a similar issue to this?

aHHHH... you have to get the front edge of the seat locked in. There are tabs that go under the gas tank... Take it apart and try again. ;)!

I am putting my seat and gas tank back on right now. Yes, you need to make sure that the two plastic tabs on the seat bottom are fully inserted under the gas tank as shown below.

Yup, The tabs are under the tank or the seat would be up a mile high. My buddy has an 07 and the same thing happened to him. He shimmed the tabs to tighten it up. I just don't get it. The seat was fine before I took it off...

I agree that it looks fairly straightforward and that it would be obvious if the seat tabs were above the gas tank.

I will have mine back together tonight or tomorrow. I will let you know if I can see any way that it could be installed improperly.

Did you take the seat back off and inspect the tabs to see if one may have broke off during the installation?

Cool, thanks yes please let me know what you find! The seat goes back in really easy, and yes I did cehck the tabs again actually. They are really strong tabs. I would most likely throw out my back if I were to force the seat enough to actually bust a tab off ha ha. That plastic is thick and extremely strong!

Mine were loose too, even when properly engaging the mating surface under the tank. I shimed my seat with some foam pipe wrap and some of the rubber windows that I cut out of my ripsaw track. Musch better now.

Huh, ha ha, Just crazy how the seat is fine until you take it off. I thought I was the only one... :o|

It is not under the tank, take it off and hold the front down as you slide it forward. I have done this many time and it is loose if not done right. It does not go bad just because you took it off.

I just put my tank & seat back on last night. There is a small amount of movement at the front of the seat if it is pushed side to side. However based on the wear marks on the tunnel I suspect that it was like this before I removed it.

The gap between the rear of the seat and the exhaust covers however looks like it is slightly greater than it was before but perhaps I am just looking closer at the fitting of the seat now because of this topic on TY.

oK, I do fine it really odd that it is loose just because I removed it. Tonight I am removing and trying it again......

Ok, I pulled the seat off slowly using a flash light to find that the seat was on correctly and under the talk. I am now thinking that because I cleaned up so good under the seat and used WD40 in places and now believe this is why the seat now has some side to side play. Is what it is at this point. I think over time I will see the seat tighten up. At least I know now that I was installing it correctly. Good luck to all that remove their seat lol. It's ok, I still love my APEX!

good luck, are ya kidding? can't be much more simple!slide two plastic things under gas tank, tighten rear 10mm nuts till tight. Done. two mins tops! call it a night, not even a two beer job, don't think I could finish one
