Came to a quick stop today as I nearly missed a road. when I tried to start the belt slipped. Took the cover off and the secondary clutch was not back to neutral.. Had to manually roll the belt and coach the clutch closed. Was fine all day after that. Is the spring too weak or ??????

I had it happen once. Never happened again. Think the belt gets wedge in secondary if the belt has some miles in it. How many miles on it? I would not worry about it unless it happens again.

what they said. had a friend with his 08 apex do that but it was after he had placed it in reverse. he backed up to quickly and then went forward. thought that he had broken his chain case because it w as making a horrible noise. checked and the belt got sucked into the secondary.I think it gets sucked in because it happened so suddenly that the secondary didn't have time to react. don't think you have anything to worry about

This is normal and will happen any time you come to a (brake locked up...sliding stop).
When at speed the belt is riding partially down in the secondary instead of at the top. If while at speed (belt lower in the secondary) you suddenly lock up the brakes the secondary stops rotating and locks the belt in the lower position. When you go to start rolling again it will be like trying to start driving in 3rd gear instead of first.
To prevent this from happening: if you can, after locking up the track to stop, release the brake and allow the track to rotate for the last few feet just prior to coming to the full stop. This short rotation at the tail end of the stop will bring the belt back up to the top (first gear) of the secondary. Problem solved!

Right clean and drop in a new spring... I agree with that considering the miles.

Given the miles I agree with Mr sled's recommendation. You are due for refreshing.
I have experienced what I described earlier in all of my Yamaha's from new: 07 Attak, 07 Phazer and 11 Apex. It happens EVERY time the track is locked up all the way to a complete stop from any speed above 20 mph.

That sucker is way off... 12 to 15 MPH, Your should be able to pull 120 on that speedo.2006 no engine mods. hard packed road, 8 degrees temp. How accurate is the stock speedo?
