My collar is flush with the outside of the bearing when its tight. It doesn't stick out at all. I would still like to know more about these '04 parts, and what exactly is different about them.
the 04,s have a threaded bushing and a nut and washer nothe inside to hold the bushing in place so that i can not walk out like the 03,s and the cost is veary high at 46 dollers cdn just for the nut with the spacer and washer it was around 100 cdn befor taxes. i cant beleve that any one would think that a taperd bushing would stay in place under load with no locking devce on it. after distroy several drive belts i finely found this gremlen it would come out then walk back in as i checked the alinment many times always good it had even worn a grove in the washer. when i call the parts dept to day the service rep was there tell in the parts guy to tell me that all the 04 stuff would fit and that would solve the problem  piss me off
just finished changeing the jack shaft bearing . i found that it had been insalled wrong at yamaha the shop man shows that the taperd sleve was suposte to go on the inside tapering to the out side mine was the reverst ckeck my buds sled his was that way so reinstalled the right way with set screws taped it to the sleve so it cant move now. allso i noted that the jack shaft is gun drilled some thing that we used to do on race sleds to reduce rotating mass. no movement in shaft now and i have to add spacers to ajust off set as i dont have that bushing sticking out and moveing in and out at random 8)
