I was doing some routine maintenance on the FX Nytro...getting ready for the upcoming season, when I noticed something had been seriously rubbing up against the expansion chamber of my rear skid shock. Wore a flat v onto the end of it. I am hoping it did not comprise the shock. The only thing different I could think of that I introduced last year was studding down the center... which I think could be the problem. Has anyone had this happen? If so, is there a solution other than taking out the studs...like some wear gizmo or attachment? Need some advice...thanks..

I thought Ulmer sold a kit to keep the track rub off the shock? Not sure if it was for the Nytro though.

The shock rub it works well for the top mount on the rear shock.
But... I'm not so sure about the front lower shock mount.
I tried to run a rub kit in that spot last year.
I think it failed miserably.
I'll be pulling my skid this week (hopefully).
I'll report on my findings.
Cheers

That rub kit was made for the mono shock, for an Apex or a Vector, with the Mono shock skid. It works, I have one in my Apex.

Just thought I'd mention...
On the Nytro XTX the front shock lower mount is too low or whatever.
It takes a prime beating.
New 2011 Apex XTX owners beware, same chassis.
(at least keep studs away from dead center)
Don't ask why my dealer studded down the center, guess they were on a learning curve too.
Last year I asked Allen Ulmer if a rub kit it would work in that spot.
He was not sure but, if I wanted to try, it would fit in there.
No harm in trying.
But it appears roller bearings can't take that kinda pounding.
Now I'm looking at another idea in that spot.
