Shim testing
I was looking at shimming the stock skis and made up up a couple shims with some stiff rubber to use to test if the thickness was correct and on the Yamaha skis, you should be able to (while having the ski-loop end raised up) insert a shim on the rear side of the spindle on top of the rubber ski pad and it should remain in there at least to see if you have the right thickness.
I made the shim as wide as the block, and long enough so if it moved backwards that it would hit the plastic of the ski-it won't come out unless you take it out.

A great resource for info on skis, carbides, shims, etc. is Bergstrom Skegs. I talked with Scott and was impressed with his willingness to help. You can call him @ 1-815-654-2950.

Read this site, lot's of discussion on shims and he has some great ideas on other stuff (and makes nice skegs). This is a must read when thinking about new skis darting or carbide/dual skeg use. I have the triple points (but untested yet) and the good and uglys which all ready are way better than anything stock. Something to think about
