Should be rebuild-able... if they are painted black with steel bodys , then they will NOT be rebuild-able.

if you are not a high milage rider, you should get the season out of it but I recommend doing them at some point around the 5000mi mark as they fade really fast around that point and ride like crap.

My 2008 vector LTX has 5k on it now. I'm a big guy 6ft 300 lbs, and i'm trying to figure out how to adjust the shock to stiffen it up...? I see one that lays flat in the skid, the other above with the spring seems to have a notched collar that I imagine can be twisted down to stiffen the spring. Problem is, the shock tool in the tool box that comes with the sled doesn't grab properly to spin it. What tool should I be using? If I remember correctly the shock and spring are silver. Reason I ask is I noticed the outside lugs were hitting on the metal rail that runs on either side of the tunnel at the top of the track. It's actually knocked of lugs.

U will need a bigger spanner wrench and as you crank on the cup with the wrench grab and turn the spring with the other hand. You can also remove the shock and under the cup move the roll pin to make it stiffer again. There is 3 settings that way.. usually set in the middle spot from factory.

I lost my spanner wrench and bought an Ohlins one online for like $25. I can't remember where I bought it. Someone on here suggested the Ohlins wrench as a low cost replacement so that's what I went with. Maybe Barnofparts has one for your sled laying around they can sell to you.
The tunnel protectors also caused my lugs to break off. I ended up removing them when I had my exhaust out since I am not going to stud the track.
The one that lays flat as you described controls weight transfer and won't really help to stiffen up your suspension. Sounds like you're also missing the owners manual. The adjustments are explained in it. They're probably on this site, too.

I searched all over for threads about setting it up, but they were all referring to the old vectors with the "cam" adjustments. I'll look for that tool. thanks everyone.

5000 miles and a big man I would pull shock and send it out for new spring and rebuild revalve and you will be a happy camper.

update your profile to include your location and that will help you get an answer to that question allot of local options in most areas and then you have some of the bigger shops as well.
