Summer Ride

It's out! Why didn't you guys tell me removing the skid would be so easy? :-o
Thought you might want to see a shot of my summer ride.

Removing it is the easy part. Wait till you try to put it back in. There have been volumns of discussion about what is the easiest way. :o|

That's quite a summer ride! What is it, or at least what did it start out as?

SWEET!

Is that a Pantera?

EDIT: Just clued in that is in your name. :o|

Yes, 74 DeTomaso Pantera (GR4 clone).
Italian style with American muscle.
Btw, should I send the shock AND transfer rod in for revalving? Or is that only an upgrade for 07's and newer??
Will

Pantera

Never heard of anyone revalving their transfer rod but some maintenance on it might not be a bad idea Will.
Good info in this link

Your car looks great!
Are you CDN or American, the reason I ask is your neighbourhood looks very familiar, like it is a place I know in Whitby?

Thanks. I'm in Oakville, Ontario. About 30 minutes outside of Toronto.

Knew it at least looked CDN ;)!

Where do you ride normally Will? I sled out of Port Perry quite often if your ever out this way?

I just bought the sleds after being away from the sport for years. Take possesion of a place on Lake Simcoe ( near Orillia) in a few weeks.
I used to fish Scugog years ago. The car was recently painted in Port Perry (Vetteworks).
I'll keep you in mind if I ever get out there.

Where are you thinking of sending your shock for re-valving. I sent mine to Bruce at Pioneer. I heard good things from people on this site, but I haven't ridden the sled yet so I don't know for sure how it will feel. I also had him put on the 6.25 spring on it. Charts say at my weight (235 with gear) I was right on the edge, but I figure I can dial down the EC.

It's an 06 RTX with a large shock (that has the dampening cable and a lower shock (without a spring). So, full clockwise and disconnect cable at shock as opposed to first post's instructions?
Will

the reason i wrote to do it my way is that you can access everything . no matter what condition you think your suspension is in, there is always something else wrong with it. i do this for a living. i also wrote to just pull the dial out with it because, its good to inspect it, and also trying to reach in there and fighting with a half seized cable connector is frustrating also you can accidently pull the cable end off. so much easier on the install to, instead of going at it blind.

Worked out perfect. Much easier than I thought.
Copo427 ?? Nova, Camaro?

Sounds good Will ;)!

As far as your shock goes, personally I would take it to Peak Velocity in Claremont Ont.
Dean is an ex-snowmobile racer and knows his stuff!

I just had my Mono revalved/rebuilt and he only charged me $75 bucks!
He is not far from me which saved me sending it out and having to pay for shipping, duty, tx's etc plus he said if I was not happy with it to just bring it back and he would fix me up.

wow, most people think im a cop. was for camaro. i always wanted a copo with the zl1. its been my email address since i was young.
ive worked on a few of them, as well as the rare 1969 tans am conv.
love my camaros, but it seems evreywhere you look now in wny someone has one. so my next project is going to be a truck again, thinking 40-60s era but would settle for the right 70s. then either a stroked sbc or bbc.

anyway not sure where my post ended up that i added last night bout valving shocks. but definatly have your shock revalved in a 3 stage and install a heavier spring. i was running a 6.8 spring i think. it was night and day over stock. im revalving my floats this year also. also look over your skid very well for cracks and worn bushings. the front arms are prone to cracking.
