I stretched my 06 Nytro which has the same skid as the 07-08 RTX to a 144 tip-up. I did have the binding problem until I loosened the track to 11/16" free sag. When I studded the track, I went with 2 studs per paddle and left every 3rd paddle un-studded. It is a bit harder to get around corners but not by much
The main reason that I stretched mine to 144 and installed mountain skis was to be able to break trail into camps, etc. If I never went off trail, I would have gone with 136 tip-up
Also, as others have mentioned, extrovert drivers are a must to be able to run the track looser to prevent binding without ratcheting. Depending on your mileage, you might want to consider replacing your drive shaft too
