sidewinder vs 900t

Lol yes I'd say little much for a 13 year old. My 8 yr old is enjoying the 200 snow scoot which is a real rocket

I am curious on how the 900 will run with the winder tuned, but has to be fair same weight relatively and the winder tuned the same
If its 225 or 250. Which is faster??

Go to DooTalk and they say the stage 3 PEFI at 250 HP will outrun a 270 HP Winder. Maybe it will, and maybe it won't. We all know the Winder is heavier and will need more power to do it.

I'd bet a stock muffler 270 winder will not beat a good Stage 3 PEFI 250 Doo 900t, one with a performance muffler might if its running decent, if it has boost leaks, no way. The winder had best be on point to do it. All depends on the setup and preparation like anything else. Another thing is what's the boost on the stage 3? One just went 153 MPH with full boost on it. Its all in the setup!

I’ve also heard the doo is an over achiever, was curious if anyone on here tried yet. Guess we will find out soon once there are enough of them around.

You may not see many PEFI stage 3 Doos around as it is a very expensive kit to purchase at $6500 CAD for just 250HP on pump gas. The 900t is not what I'd call an overachiever. The 1200 was though for sure.

It takes lots of $$$$ to make anything out of the 900t, really not cost effective. Myself, I'd much prefer a turbo 1200 Doo, that one I know from experience at 250 will beat a 270 winder, and will not have too small a turbo on it. Doo did a huge injustice to the turbo Doo guys building that 900t and mothballing the 1200.

The 153 mph is in 3000 feet, while that is fast it's not earth shattering. However it was definitely well set up. I'd suggest you be ready and make sure you know what game that he wants to play and adjust .

Last year my Powertrail Stock Muffler sled would pull my friend’s Hurricane 205 with equal studs on good hard pack. We would launch pretty close and by maybe 300 hundred feet I would be pulling him. The further we went the further ahead I pulled. This year he went with the riot 225 kit and I went with Max Spool 16. It will be interesting to see what 20 more hp does to our sleds.
I had some experience last season with a friend that has a 900t with Hurricane 205 and he had to know where he stood. i was trying to be modest and finally gave in to set the Doo rider strait. it was hard pack smooth very long strait. he only stayed in the fight for about 100 feet then i pulled him BAD. i have max spool 16 with header SM. it was like bringing a knife to a gun fight. the only way it ends up close is with a stock Sidewinder and i dont thing most of the Doo's can handle a stock winder unless they are very heavy modified. in my case its only close if we had a 75 foot race, the longer the distance the beat down gets worse.

What kinda speeds did the green wheel get on the ice ?

The one I ran with 1" track, drivers and 38 tooth gear runs around 125 mph on snow on a 225 tune

I have some history with the winders when I had my 900t.
Hurricane 205 tune with a 38 bottom gear against a stock winder and I was out front by a fair bit in 1000' or so (would run 115 in 1500' on glare ice). My other buddies 240 Hurricane winder smoked my bad that same day.
Next year I had the Whalen green wheel with a Motec and that same 240 tune lost to my 900. Motec showed I was making about 240hp on pump 93.
His Hurricane 270 tune ran side by side with my 900 and his 300 tune was out front by a sled or so. The 900's will never beat the sidewinder if you go mod for mod but they can run fairly decent when you get the small turbo and crappy inter cooler off them. I sold mine as it just felt slower than it was and didn't have much personality. Now I'm on a Motec 1200 that I haven't been on because of lack of snow.
Here's a little video from our race. This was just us playing around at the end of a 300km trail ride so as real world as it gets.
I was looking at your times on post #172 over on Dootalk. Is that with the Green wheel setup?

Distance ?
We trail ride railroad beds with 2 mile straight stretches. I would guess it takes 3,000 feet or so to get there, but it still surprised me

So the 900t with 250hp and an extra 6500 bucks spent beat a 270hp winder that cost maybe 1300 bucks? Sounds like a lot for that win. Plus who knows the condition are equal with the soft snow. Takea one tiny slip. I do agree that 900 is strong and is well built. No 1200 but..
