Second Sled

My spedo is within .9 MPH on my winder at 120MPH. Checked it once this winter and 121 on meter was 120.1 on my GPS on my road for a short blast. You must be spinning like a bugger or have something amiss with that weird 3" track drive setup or something.

That's interesting how accurate your speedometer is, my 19 srx is accurate to 102 mph, then 4 mph out at max 115 mph is 119 -120 mph on the speedo, wouldn't think a 1.5" track would affect it

I've had a few. Loved them! BUT, the Winder handles and rides so much better or I'd be back on one in a heartbeat. Mine were all fast and trouble free, just can't keep skis on the ground either accelerating or in a corner. Very nice and light, but handling not up to the Cat. The 1200 Rotax is a sweet-sweet engine and can take a boat load of boost.

Lug height will have no effect on speedo reading at all. I've seen some say they have seen 4 MPH slower as well.

I've never seen that far off on my sled. When I first tuned it the Speedo read lower than GPS, but that was corrected long ago and my Hurricane tunes have been spot on GPS for me since.

It must be the tuning being done by Hurricane or the fact that I'm studded and completely hooked up and not spinning at all or both combined.

How many of which studs on what track do you have , that gives you so little spin and such accuracy ?

second sled for me would be a 600 ace renegade...its quiet, great on the bumps and my wife can ride it all day. It's a great beginner sled if you want to introduce a friend to sledding and it is incredible on gas. My buddy has one and I rode it for a day, my wife also rode it and she loved it..so, second sled would be the 600ace..pretty good price point also. I wa thinking of a Viper for the wife but in reality its just too powerful for her.

One of my riding buddies has a 2020 850 Gade...106mph on his speedo is only 96mph on the GPS...his dream meter is as bad as the original Apex speedos.
124 MPH speedo on my 2019 SW XTX is 114mph on the GPS...not great accuracy either

Absolutely

Most SW run a 9 tooth 2.86 driver with a 25.74" circumference
My XTX has 8 tooth 3" drivers with a 24" circumference
Yamaha uses the same 9 magnet speedo sender on the end of the drive shaft on both the 2.86" and 3" driver models so unless they recalibrated the ecu for the 3" drivers it would have a built in error
25.74/24 = 1.0725% error
124 mph divided by 1.0725 = 115 mph...basically the exact error my XTX speedo has
Its all about the math

In the past Yamaha has had the worst inaccuracy. We used too call the Yami speedo’s “feel good meters” cuz they lie so bad! It’s a marketing gimmick, and every manufacturer has done it more often than not. There is no way you’ll have 10 percent slippage top end on hard pack/ice with 144 studs or more.
Now that so many have gps, manufacturers got smart and made them more accurate.
2000 SRX reads 128 mph speedo.....on gps it’s 117! The old RX’s were even worse!

The calibration is in the ECU.

How do you like those double backers?
How are they holding up?
Thanks
Marc

They hold up fantastic, I tap them just over half way thru, they are lighter, provide extra traction and also act as a locknut. I love them and have used them on my turbo 1200 as well. I wouldn't use the singles myself. Notice I use the plus size in the middle and the std size on the outside band as well. I've never ever tore one up, but will only use the doubles.

It's the 3 inch pitch drivers screwing up the speedo reading.
I had an 18 xtx 141 and it read high also.

How does the tuned 900 turbo compare to a stock sidewinder for mid range and top end?

195 TD tune on a 900T is neck & neck, speed wise, with Stock Winder to 100. Winder barely creeps ahead at 110ish.
Both guys weigh about the same.
As a matter of fact, the T with it's 1.6 track, out accelerated the Stock Winder, but slowed it on top.
I know cuz i antagonized them all weekend to see who was who while staying behind them to judge & poke jabs at the looser. (i can be a dick sometimes)
It was those 2 i rolled on by to show my dominance, like a Dog peeing on a tree, when my chain case exploded!

The Doo guy says the tune made the throttle better, but he still likes his 850 better.

I didn't get to ride the T like i was supposed to, but i can say the 900T stock was equal to an Apex until the very top.
After the tune, it would walk an Apex rather easily.

And YES, even the die hard DOO guy says the throttle is very touchy & just not fun.
The 850 is snappy, but not twitchy if that makes any sense.

P.S: The 850's bottom end snap is the best in the biz. ROCKERDAN was right all along.

Yep. I rode an 850 Renegade last winter. It felt like a rocket from 0-70 compared to my stock SW. It soaked up the bumps really nicely too.

If I ever went back to a 2 stroke, it would be my first choice.

Yamaha must not have bothered recalibrating the ECUs on the XTXs for the 3" drivers. My friend has an XTX and its speedo is out the same amount as mine...his is Precision tuned mine is Hurricane tuned. I can live with the 7% speedo as pretty well every sled I have ever owned has had an overly optimistic speedo. My Attaks speedo over indicated by 12% until I removed 2 teeth off of the speedo sensor gear.

I may pull the trigger on an 850 too, Doctor"s orders.

Went for a physical 3 weeks ago cause I was feeling tired/burnt out all the time. Doctor asked me what I was doing different as of late?

I said, "I haven't changed a thing. I work as hard now as I did when I was 25 years old. I'm just as strong, have just as much stamina and work the same amount of hours now as I did then. As a matter of fact, last fall I sawed, loaded, hauled, and unloaded 9 cord of wood by myself in one day!! You'd have to get early in the morning to follow this old boy."

The Doctor chuckled and said, "Fleece, you may not have noticed, but you're not exactly a spring chicken anymore. A guy your age should really look to slow down."

I replied, "So...I need to buy a Ski Doo??"
