Sidewinder windshield

Anyone trim or try last years LTX DX shield with mirrors ? ... does a lot need to be trimmed? I just use this shield on Quebec trips otherwise short one will be fine on local trails.

I would not count on the SMA-8LR96-30-00 #3 for this season. at best will see by the end of February. Est Date to Yamaha 2/15/17.
I doubt they will even make since the STX is not coming with it.

I got a call from my dealer today as I had the 30 or #3 in your post on order since mid October , they told me due to manufacturing problems at the supplier that windshield is no longer available from Yamaha , so I guess I have find something else.

when you say trim the bottom...the little tab that attachs to the hood? and ...do you think without it there will be enough support and/or wont flutter with wind pressure>?


actionjack...just double check....the ones that fit the SW are viper and 7000 shields.....every 9000 shield Ive seen dont.. its the mounting holes in different locations...in fact my 2016 zr9000 was totally different than the sw...

Yes all i did was trim the tabs off then glued the trim back on. Seems to be enough bends in the sheild that it wont flutter with the wind pressure but then again the sidewinder are going to be really fast, might blow the whole sheild off

I go back and forth on if I like it. Needs something to break up the color, graphics....little better styling....

That looks awesome! Few questions - did you spray it yourself? Gun or can (if you did it yourself)? What kind of paint?

They're all vinyl stickers, including the white...next week, I should have a white carbon fiber (sticker) Yamaha fork, the black didn't stand out enough..

Any pictures of mid shield smoke installed? My son has low sport smoke with blue and white, looks great on his blue/white Viper, with hand guards decent wind protection

I do believe the mid smoked windshield has been kyboshed by Yamaha

I ordered a mid smoke or maybe tinted, not sure what they called it but the dealer called today to let me know that they are on back order until 1/18/17. So I ordered a powermadd cobra low 14" tinted windshield. Their low looks higher than the Yamaha mid. I called Dennis Kirk to confirm fit on sidewinder! They were confident about it fitting a sidewinder so I shall keep my fingers crossed! Also picked up some Snowtrackers (semi aggressive only for tuner lll). They are wrong, whereas the new tuner lll Snowtrackers are not the same as older model tuners! The drill hole spot is different.
