Sidewinder wraps

I have the same skis, always cleaning them, I’ll never buy white again.

Love the wrap Staggs, I think it is the best ever I've seen. I'm going to figure out what to do with my grey green monstrosity. Thinking matte carbon fiber fades, a touch of grey, and the occasional lime highlight. Military stealth with a little splash of color. Extremely basic, closer to what you would see in a new Bentley that what is typical for sleds these days.

Guys that have installed wraps, did you do anything special to the center hood where the plastic is somewhat textured?

I use rapid tac and never had any issues
Do you install your own wraps?
I would like to change my new Riot but am apprehensive about applying stickers that large.
I have done smaller stuff like 1/4 panel stickers on trucks and pinstriping but never one that large

Oh yes, I have done several sleds. Some times a little heat from heat gun will help a ton.

No I just used masking tape to hold the alignment of the sticker. Peeled off half the backing on the sticker squeegee it down from the center to the edges repeat for the other half. I did an artic fx wrap. They have some installation videos that are good I also watched a few videos on YouTube to get some tips. Yes good idea to have a heat gun handy

Substrate prep depends on what type of wrap/decal it is. Most newer ones are just pressure activated, meaning you can carefully position/reposition if you only used very light fingertip pressure to apply. Once you've pressed it down with pressure, it can't be pulled up to reposition it without stretching/tearing it. Some older ones are applied by spraying substrate with water with a tiny bit of soap in it. Then squeegee the water out (from center out) and adhesive adheres.
The pressure sensitive ones mostly use 3M control-tac. They recommend cleaning the substrate with 50/50 mix of isopropyl alcohol. Once applied and in place, apply some heat from hair dryer or carefully with heat gun to promote a strong bond.
Most recommend cleaning plastics with either isopropyl alcohol or acetone.

Thanks guys, all good info!

I won't be doing a complete wrap, but the reason I asked was I took a rock off the center hood piece with an overly aggressive start from the sled in front of me and it left quite a dinger. First thought was to replace the piece, but I think it would actually look better with a gloss black finish to match the rest of the hood on the 25 XTX.

Anyway, it would be good to see some recent wraps since this thread has been bumped forward!!!
