Silverstar bulbs

H4 and 9003 are synonymous. ST stands for Silver Star. Probably already aware of that. Just info

I was told the H4 bulb was more vibration resistant as it was for motorcycles. Both bulbs will work and fit.

Just throwing this out there, but isnt there better bulbs than the silverstars out there, such as the PIAA GT- X superplasma which uses 135W/125W power instead of the stock 60/55W?. Or are these silverstars better than the rest for some reason?

the power draw of the 135/125 bulbs is a problem on the RX's (if not the rest of them...)..they start acting funny with too much draw. On the old SX style sleds if you used those bulbs you heated visor won't work (at least not well). The silverstars seem to be the brightest 60/55 bulb or at least they are readily available. PIAA stuff is excellent but it's very expensive, in my experience.

Mine are Orsam. As I said above, didn't notice much difference in the Apex, so put in the '05 Poo 600. Work better there than the OEM. Suspect it's due to the higher out put alternator on the Apex.

The key to the Silverstars are how white they are. Put one in next to your stock bulb and stand back and you'll be amazed at how yellow the stocker looks.

Boy are you right on that Mighty! I put my Silverstars in last season and put my sled next to a buddy's identical Apex and what a difference from stock. Just a great and inexpensive upgrade!

No offense taken but I have the package in my hand (I saved it to put the stock bulbs in) and it says; H4 ST. For motorcycle use only.

And are you riding a motorcycle this winter???? :)

Sorry man..I couldn't resist.
When I close my eyes I am :-o

Yes, like someone else ended up posting...H4 and 9003 are the same bulb....I sell the Sylvanias and had to look myself!! However, I never knew there was a H4ST...I only stocked the 9003ST. I put the 9003ST in my Bike and may just take them out and put them in the Apex....CHEAP AREN'T I ?!!!!

I agree that the Silverstar are a brighter white in color. My light pattern length and width and sharpness of detail were no better than stock with the Silverstar. How many folks used the blue bulbs when they first came out, only to discover the sharpness of details was reduced? Hey if your happy with the results that's all that counts. That's why I run 100/80 standard. A slight yellow tint gives greater detail. Just my opinion and you know how much that reduces the price of a beer at the bar.

I agree with the above statements.

A few years ago, I switched the bulb in my sled to a higher output and whiter bulb. While I found that it lit the trail a whole lot more, I felt it lost a lot of definition, hence I was not able to see bumps in the trail as easily. My cousin didn't like them when I was riding behind him at night because the light was so much brighter than his, that his sled was casting a shadow in front of him.

I switched back to the lower powered/dimmer/yellowish stock bulb and was happier and felt safer.

I never thought of the definition difference..I'm just happy to see through my stupid tinted visor!!

On my single headlight SXR there was a huge difference in light output and it allowed me to ride with the tinted visor (which helps alot with definition!!)

silverstar

Just remember with the hotter bulbs guy's, We have found that it"WILL",yellow the lexan after awhile, that's why they didn't come stock.
