Just put simmons gen 1 on my rtx and now the thing turns like a tank. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Also any ideas about my clutching I put in a white secondary spring wrapped at 60 what would wrapping at 70 do?? new to most of this. I have 144 studs a Woodys Performance powerup kit includes 3 degree timing key with a silver secondary spring which I changed to a white Thanks in Advance for any help Mark :o| :o| :o| :o|

By turning like a tank I mean theres to much front pressure and way to much heavy steering. My limiter strap is tighten one and my weight transfer is set at max. I checked with woody and he said the white spring will make it rev higher but riding Sunday with the white spring at 60 it seemed to pull way better and rev between 10700 and 10900 it just pulls better and got my best run so far of 125 on the speedo and never got above 117 before and with the silver spring which according to the Yamaha site is the same length but stiffer ??? I think I wouldn't get above 10400 or so and only on long runs. What will wrapping it at 70 do?? Will shimming the Simmons skis help with the heavy steering? Thanks in advance Mark

On my simmons mounts there was two locations for the spindle bolt was there on yours? I opted for the font hole which is supposed to provide better steering but was told it would seem like it was hard to turn. most said they used the rear bolt hole less steering effort. this was on gen II but i would figure 1 and 2 would use the same mount.

I have the transfer at max and just went up one on the limiter strap will see if that helps this weekend anyone shim the simmons ski with any luck did it help Thanks Mark

With your weight trasfer at max might make a crapy trail ride when in corners.Did you put more preload on your front spring ?

I have a 06 RTX I may mess with the transfer but if I put the transfer closer to the min won't ski pressure increase even more??

Call Scott Bergstrom and tell him how and what you ride. He will set you up with new skegs and shims. I run his set up on Simmons skis and the sled rails. Simmons skis will steer harder than stock but not difficult at all to steer .

On my 06 RTX with Simmons skis I set the floats at 60lbs, shim the skis, and have the transfer at the half way mark. It handles great, but no matter how you set it up the Simmons will steer harder than stock. They really rail though.
