As I recently said in another post I've added simmons skis to my RTX and am totally in love with them. I have them aligned perfectly and have 1/4" shims installed. I have 6" inside & 4" outside carbides. They have completely transformed the sled into a cornering animal!
The only drawback is a huge increase in steering effort. I would gladly put up with the hard steering for my new and improved handling, but if I could reduce the steering effort also I would.
With fox floats on the front I'm not sure if adjusting them would be the answer for reduced ski pressure. Current setup at 230 lbs is as follows:
floats at 65 lbs
c - clip at second postions with cam on # 4
transfer rod adjusted about 1/8 " past standard towards minimum.
limiter strap at stock setting, which I think is all the way out.
Now that I have skis that bite hard would it help to increase the transfer setting to take some weight off of the skis? Any advice appreciated.

I noticed a big difference in steering effort between 4" carbides and 6" carbides. You might consider going back to 4" carbides and seeing how that impacts your steering effort.

I just put the same setup on my Apex GT and I think it's awesome. It just takes some getting used to. You definitely have to work harder to steer, but the performance is worth it. Think of it as going from power steering to manual. You'll get a bit more of a workout.

I agree. After using them for 350 miles now I wish I would of gotten them years ago for my SRX.

I have noticed some increased steering effort as well.
They are great on the big swooping Northern Ontario Trails...but get tiring in certain types of snow in the Muskoka's (really tight turns)
Not sure what the answer is.....2 sets of skis...I guess.

BRP Pilots work awesome with light steering...no darting.

so what is the best ski to eliminate darting and little effort to steer.......

I don't think you can get both, one or the other.

Even with the incresed steering effort these simmons skis are truly amazing and well worth it.

I agree with ya Vice. I love the performance, but I wish I could tune out some the steering effort. I took off the preload on the front springs and was going to let the limiter strap out but it is already in the longest setting from the factory.
Out of curiosity, does anyone have a tape measure to share with me the dimensions of those Pilot skis? And does Doo offer a "mountain pilot" version that might be wider to give more flotation for the Attak?
I was leaning toward Simmons for my 07 Attak that's being orderd, but would consider the Pilots if they work well, and especially if they have a wider version.
Thanks!

Howsabout that...a quick visit to ski-doo.com answered my own question. Most REVS come with "Pilot 5.7" and Summits come with "Pilot 6.9". These must be referring to widths.
I'm thinking a set of Pilot 6.9's on an Attak would probably be seriously sweet....anyone else have a thought?
Hold on....don't want to be guilty of hijacking, I'll start another post on this.
