today john z ran the simons cpr turbo rx-1 in the radar run at minocua. when he hit the throttle it stood on the rear bumper and rode an impressive wheely down the track. (not good for top speed) before john could run again, he was paged to come into the tech for an inspection, seemed that as quiet and stock sounding as the simons cpr rx-1 turbo may be, rx-1''s don''t tend to stand on their bumper, after a brief inspection, john told me he was throw out, he had a good laugh about it and went back to lake racing where he finished the day undefeated. he told me he was very impressed with the trail manners of the cpr turbo kit, loggin in nearly 300 miles this weekend, and the high boost switch was too much fun. john will be at the muskego radar run tommorrow for anyone who would like to take a look at cpr''s rx-1 turbo, cpr will have a new turbo kit ready for the three cylinder 1000 cc engine early next season shortly after the release of the sled, jeff

Jeff, is that Big or Little Maskego? The ride would be awsome!
After witnessing and participating in the lake racing at Minocqua last Saturday, I had to post a response regarding this thread. Once all the radar runs were completed, the track being used turned into a huge grudge match drag session. There must have been 15-18 sleds lined up at times!
I have ridden ski-doo since birth (now have an 800ho) and live for the type of racing that was taking place. I have to say that I have never been put in my place as bad as I was against the turbo'd RX1 that day. It was just plain SILLY fast! I've gone against a couple other RX1's before and based on the hole shot, ski lift the entire length of the strip and the continuous rooster beening poured out the back end of that thing, I knew it wasn't anything close to stock.
It was easily 10 sleds ahead of anything I saw that particular day and the field was littered with F7's, 800ho's, X2's, XCR 800's, RX1's and many other big iron sleds.
I've never met or talked to Simon or that driver of the RX1 (I'm yellow blooded), but just thought I'd give credit where it's due and put a free plug in for the turbo he's building because it sure sent a lot of people (all of us) home that day with our tails between our legs!
Not sure of the cost, but if I was riding in the blue camp it would be hard to turn away from after seeing it run.

Yes that is very stand up of you, around here even before I put on my Turbo I did some spankings and yet there is nobody in this town that has been beat by a RX-1. I had my share of a$$ whoppings in the deep and steep but NEVER by a stock 800 anything! But if you talk to anyone here they say a good running 600 will beat a RX-1. The biggest problem is that stock to most of the 2 stroke boys is pipes, heads, reeds, longer tracks and light weight parts. I know mine wasn't stock last year, but the motor was and it was still way heavier. Just talked to a guy that I smoked last year BAD, on 2 of his stock 800s and I use this term loosely and his buddy has a FULL MOD Ski-doo that I also smoked (Do to poor set up on their part) and he told me, "Well last year the Doo didn't have NOS but it does now". He made it sound like I was heavy mod (No pun intended) and his buddies FULL MOD DOO was stock. I told him bring out the DOO again even with the NOS, I now have a TURBO!
