my good friend dropped off his winder today because he was "loosing studs" and ruining wheels.
I found right away there was a tun of studs missing and the wheels where wrecked from the loose studs.
All I can do is retorque the studs and pull the bent ones. He's going to buy replacements.
The dealer installed these studs they are in a 1.6 single ply track. I've never owned single ply.
Is there something wrong ? Or is the fact that there was no retighten until now (1700 miles) the reason these studs failed ?
Thanks ty.

I beilieve there's single ply specific studs available, don't know for sure if it matters. Which studs does he have and call the supplier to see if there suitable for that track.my good friend dropped off his winder today because he was "loosing studs" and ruining wheels.

There is single Ply specific studs. Only ones I would recommend are Woody's Grand Masters. If he is using standard 2 ply studs he will have all kinds of problems.

Call Woody's directly you have to torque them to a specific level - think it is 30 foot pounds but call to be sure

Your right. 30 ft lbs. after retorquing the studs there is no way they where torqued right. Every had atleast two turns to be tight.

They are stud boy studs. They are single ply studs, but I replaced the bent and missing ones with grand masters. The master has a way bigger backer.
In the pic you can see the new master and the old square stud boys.
When we sold Stud boys a few years back for the single ply Cat tracks we did not have the best of luck. After using the grand masters little to no problems. Stud many single ply Doo tracks with grand masters and they hold up great.

Just an FYI - Grand Masters are made by Woody's.

I've got 9,000miles(2/sleds)on single ply with stud boy PowerPoint+ without a worry in the world.
Have studboy for my winder, just not installed yet.
With that said. Studboy did send me out a batch of plastic backers years ago. The composition was incorrect, and backers started flying everywhere as I was riding. Lol! What a mess!

Just studded my doo with 1.45'' woodys grand masters and grand backers yesterday, they are massive and really seat in tight on my single ply ice attak XT.

I really like the look of that track. I'm regretting not switching it over at the dealer.Just studded my doo with 1.45'' woodys grand masters and grand backers yesterday, they are massive and really seat in tight on my single ply ice attak XT.

Update*
After retorque on the studs to 30 ft lbs we have 300 miles on them and they all seem well seated and not causing any issue.
Check the studs on your new track guys. I really think a retorque is crutial.
